2023 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches Tips

Blue Rose Cen is no stranger to success at Longchamp, with the filly having racked up a succession of victories already. Christopher Head is the expert trainer who will be hoping for further successes and there was plenty to like about the three-year-old’s performance in the Prix de la Grotte over one mile on heavy ground, with Lindy beaten by one and a half lengths.

Previously to this, the horse was able to land the spoils in the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac - Criterium des Pouliches over one mile on very soft ground and so any rainfall will be appreciated by the race favourite. That was a five-length success and there was previously a success in the Prix d'Aumale which was an impressive Group 3 triumph.

Perhaps an Irish raider can make an impact on Sunday, with Never Ending Story arriving in France and hoping to bridge the gap between herself and Blue Rose Cen. The latter was able to achieve a comfortable victory when the pair clashed at Longchamp in October, with the horse winning a 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown in early April.

Lindy and Kelina are other horses that could comfortably hit the frame and the former looks like a good each-way selection, with the C Ferland-trained charge only finishing one and a half lengths behind Blue Rose Cen on heavy ground, with the horse having previously secured back to back wins at Bordeaux and there was then a success at Toulouse.

2022 French 1000 Guineas Betting Tips

Homeless Songs is trained by Dermot Weld and was able to oblige at odds of 6/1 when it came to that recent encounter, with the horse having previously underwhelmed at Leopardstown in the autumn.

The runner was sent off as the 6/4 favourite on that occasion but didn’t produce the goods. Connections will hope that the more recent performance sets the right tone for this highly competitive race.

Rosacea could be another interesting runner and this three-year-old filly can boast having course and distance. There was a victory in the Prix de la Grotte over one mile to win by half a length, while there were also two victories at Deauville along with a triumph at Saint-Cloud.

Raclette is trained by Andre Fabre, with the legendary trainer having already tasted success on three different occasions in this race. The horse was successful at Deauville and Chantilly last year as a juvenile, although she finished well down the order when being sent off as the 9/10 favourite in a race won by Rosacea.

2020 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches betting odds

The Poule d'Essai des Pouliches is one of the most prestigious horse races in France, with this being the equivalent of the 1,000 Guineas in England. It means we will see several talented three-year-old fillies lining up in a bid to become the latest female champion.

The race is run over one mile and, like the French 2,000 Guineas, it has been re-routed from ParisLongchamp to Deauville, with the race now being hosted by this racetrack for the third time in five years.

Tropbeau has been all the rage in the betting market in the lead-up to this encounter, with the talented filly having proved to be highly impressive as the 2/1 favourite when winning a race at Longchamp on 11 May.

It’s no surprise to find the horse is trained by the legendary Andre Fabre who saw his runner win three times as a two-year-old, with Tropbeau narrowly beating Dream And Do and Tickle Me Green in the Prix de la Grotte.

That was on very soft ground although we can expect firmer conditions at Deauville and that might bring Simeen into play, with the J-C Rouget-trained charge having only been seen racing twice although both encounters were successful.

She won at Saint-Cloud in June 2019 before a more recent win at Chantilly and there have been plenty of positive noises coming from the stable, while the same could be said about Dream And Do who got narrowly close to Tropbeau last time out.

The horse will have the advantage of having raced at Deauville before on her career debut, while there was then a consecutive hat-trick of wins at Maisons-Laffitte before that exciting finish at Longchamp.

Tickle Me Green is another horse trading at single figure odds for the race, with the German raider finishing third in that Longchamp warm-up race and she’s another Andre Fabre contender who can’t be underestimated.

Magic Attitude has also been the subject of many bets, with the Chappet-trained horse having won at Longchamp on 14 May and that performance truly thrust her into the spotlight for this encounter.
