Bath is a beautiful Roman city and one of the star attractions is Bath Racecourse which is located about three miles away from the city centre. It’s located on a place called Lansdown Hill, with the actual track being left-handed.

The distance of Bath Racecourse is roughly one mile and four furlongs, with the run-in being around half-a-mile and this offers some brilliant scenery by virtue of the fact that this racecourse is the highest Flat one above sea level.

Bath Racecourse Hosts Lansdown Fillies’ Stakes

Every April, thousands of racegoers attend Bath Racecourse to watch the Lansdown Fillies’ Stakes, a race which is run on a Saturday as part of a full card of racing. It’s a five-furlong dash to see who will win this listed encounter.

As the name suggests, it’s a race that is only open to fillies, with horses of the age of three and above able to compete and this has been in operation since 1999.

Trainer Clive Cox has managed to win this race on three occasions, the most recent being Priceless in 2017, while the most recent winner was Queen of Desire who won for trainer Roger Varian in 2019.
