2022 Northerly Stakes Betting Odds at Ascot AU racecourse

Saturday, 03 December 2022

Simon A Miller trains Amelia’s Jewel and the horse hasn’t put a foot wrong so far, with the runner bidding to follow in the footsteps of recent winners such as Taxagano, Dance Music and Resortman. However, the betting odds suggest that the race favourite is less likely to oblige than win a hot encounter that also features Cascadian.

Trix Of The Trade, Alaskan God and Bustler are the other horses that are lining up and the latter pushed Amelia’s Jewel close earlier this season. Much depends on which runner can sustain a strong pace over 1,400 metres, with the runners lining up at Ascot Racecourse and there is sure to be a lively betting heat for this handicap encounter.

2022 Northerly Stakes Tips

Amelia’s Jewel recently returned to the race track when claiming a solid victory in the Sky Racing - W A Guineas on 19 November. Having been sent off as the odds-on favourite for this one mile encounter, the horse was able to win by just under a length and this win came after two previous victories at Ascot Racecourse.

On 19 March, there was a win in the Furphy – Gimcrack Stakes at favourite odds of 3/5, while another triumph occurred over six furlongs when winning the Amelia Park-Karrakatta Plate. However, this is the stiffest test yet for the favourite and perhaps Cascadian is worth considering instead.

This seven-year-old has plenty of tools in his locker and the seven-year-old ran a reasonably good race in the Kennedy Champions Mile over one mile on 5 November 2022. The Godolphin runner finished fifth in an encounter won by Alligator Blood, with the horse having previously scooped a double at Randwick.

Trix Of The Trade should also be respected and this runner is available at a bigger each-way price. The Railway Stakes took place on 19 November and the horse claimed a victory at betting odds of 4/1. The fact that this was a victory at Ascot Racecourse makes this horse stand out at a bigger price.
