East India Dock was impressive last time out. The horse is trained by James Owen, with the last race involving the horse landing the spoils at Chester in May. The 9/4 favourite won the Ladbrokes Chester Cup, with that being a one-length success over two miles, two and a half furlongs. That came after a smart run at the Cheltenham Festival.
On that occasion, the horse was third out of seventeen runners in the JCB Triumph Hurdle. However, it’s worth noting that this race was won by 100/1 ran outsider Poniros. There was no form to suggest that the Willie Mullins-trained charge was going to secure the spoils, although the horse is now among the favourites to land a victory.
Following on from that performance, the horse was runner-up in a four-year-old hurdle over two miles at Punchestown. Therefore, we need to regard this horse as a serious contender. Reaching High is also in the Mullins stable and there’s been a wave of money coming for a horse who will surely be in the running to go well.
The horse was second out of fourteen runners at Punchestown when sent off as the 5/2 favourite in the middle of May. Over one mile and four furlongs, there was plenty to like about this performance, with Manxman another contender to consider. The five-year-old was successful last time out at Goodwood.
