2025 Challenge Cup Betting Odds at Ascot racecourse

Saturday, 04 October 2025

A maximum of eighteen runners will line up in the BetMGM Challenge Cup at Ascot on Saturday, with the betting market typically wide open for a showdown which takes place over seven furlongs. Native Warrior looks to be well weighted for the encounter and the four-year-old is now trading as the favourite to win.

2025 BetMGM Challenge Cup Betting Tips

Native Warrior has been serving up some impressive performances this season and could be solid contender for this seven furlong contest. There was a stunning win at Ascot in early September, with the horse claiming a victory by a length and a half. That came after finishing third in a field of twenty runners. There was previously a win on the all-weather at Newcastle.

Great Acclaim has been a stellar performer this season and might well hit the frame once again. The Eve Johnson Houghton-trained charge was the surprise 18/1 winner at the end of July when winning at Goodwood and this was followed by an August success at Chepstow. Since then, there have been consecutive runner-up spots.

The pick of the three-year-olds looks like Back In Black, with the horse landing victory on a seasonal debut. James Fanshawe trains a runner who landed the spoils at Newbury and this came before finishing fifth at Goodwood towards the end of August. Last time out, there was another solid effort at Doncaster where a third placed finish was registered.

At the other end of the age scale, Hickory could go well for trainer Jamie Osborne. The horse was last seen landing a victory at Ascot in early September, with that coming after finishing runner-up at Windsor. Rahmi was a winner in mid-September at Leopardstown and that came after putting in a decent effort at Windsor on a seasonal debut.

Fresh is a seven-year-old who could put some of his younger rivals to the sword at Ascot, with James Fanshawe training a horse who was able to oblige with a victory at the same racecourse. The runner hasn’t been out of the places in the past three encounters and looks as solid an each-way pick as anything else in the race.

Qirat is trained by Ralph Beckett and there have been two wins for the three-year-old this term, with the latest success coming at Goodwood towards the end of August. This was a one length triumph over seven furlongs, with the 9/4 favourite obliging after finishing fifth in the bet365 Mile Handicap at Newmarket.

Cerulean Bay landed a win at Haydock in July before landing two smart victories at Thirsk before running at Leopardstown in the middle of September. Despite being sent off as the 7/2 favourite, the horse could only finish seventh although that previous hit rate might encourage some punters to take a chance on the runner.

Lethal Levi has each-way claims and there was everything to like about his most recent performance at Ayr where the 20/1 shot was able to triumph in the Gold Cup Handicap. It was a three-length success and that came after landing the spoils at Newbury where favourite Waleefy was beaten into second place.

2023 Howden Challenge Cup Tips

There are plenty of horses from a field of eighteen runners who have solid credentials when it comes to the Howden Challenge Cup. Baradar was able to oblige at odds of 100/30 at Doncaster in the middle of September, with the runner previously impressing at Ascot. There was a great win in the International Stakes at odds of 16/1.

Popmaster has been in the first two in the previous three races, with the horse runner-up over seven furlongs at Newbury Racecourse. In the bet365 Handicap at Ascot came a second-placed performance by the short distance of just a neck, with the best effort coming in a recent encounter in the Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes at Newbury.

Quinault was able to beat Popmaster at Ascot and there is plenty to recommend the Stuart Williams-trained runner who could be more progressive at the age of three. Indeed, this horse has won six of his seven efforts this term and has to be considered each-way value. There was a third-placed finish in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Handicap.

Fresh hasn’t been successful in any race this term although sixth place out of twenty-two runners at The Curragh, with this horse running well on good ground over six furlongs. There was also a fifth-placed finish out of seventeen in the Constantine Handicap, with Ramazan having finished second in the Ayr Gold Cup Handicap on 23 September.
