2023 King George V Stakes Betting Odds at Ascot racecourse

Thursday, 22 June 2023

The King George V Stakes takes pride of place on the Thursday of Royal Ascot 2023, with this three-year-old encounter another that looks set to be an open affair. Charlie Appleby is likely to have several winners during the week-long meeting and Tagabawa is the market leader to claim the spoils over one mile and four furlongs.

Bertinelli is another interesting runner that goes for trainer Aidan O’Brien, with the horse having finished first or second in his previous four outings, while Perfuse has been a winner on the previous two occasions and Sir Michael Stoute will now have high hopes of an optimum performance when it comes to this long distance encounter.

2023 King George V Stakes Tips

Tagabawa is regarded as the most likely winner by the 2023 Royal Ascot betting sites, with Charlie Appleby having seen his charge claim a victory against three other horses at Kempton Park most recently. The runner was able to beat Maasai Mara by four lengths and that came after a smart win at Wolverhampton in November.

Bertinelli could be a strong each-way selection and Ryan Moore will look to have this three-year-old in contention over the last few furlongs. The horse was able to oblige in a relatively big field at Newbury and that was over one mile and two furlongs, with a longer trip unlikely to pose too many problems to a horse regularly accustomed to hitting the frame.

Perfuse is bidding for a consecutive hat-trick of wins and the latest victory came in a Novice Stakes race at Doncaster, with the 5/6 favourite able to oblige by two lengths to land a win against four other runners. This came after a similarly impressive outing at Nottingham over one mile and two furlongs on heavy ground.

Wonder Legend could go well for trainer James Ferguson and there was an impressive run at Doncaster Racecourse at the end of April when the horse was able to land a victory by five lengths over one mile and two furlongs on soft ground. The big question is whether the horse can benefit from a longer trip and land a third straight success.
