2026 Norfolk Stakes Betting Odds at Ascot racecourse

Thursday, 18 June 2026

The Ridler, Valiant Force and Shareholder are among the recent winners of the Norfolk Stakes, with the previous two champions having landed the spoils in less than one minute. Charles Darwin is regarded as the horse to beat, with the two-year-old capable of setting a strong pace over five furlongs on the Royal Ascot track.

It's a quick-run affair and it will be interesting to see which runner produces the best turn of speed. Naval Light produced a promising run on a debut and could be capable of more, while Old Is Gold has also run well on two occasions. A third-placed finish at Ascot was followed up by a victory at Beverley as the strong favourite.

2025 Norfolk Stakes Betting Tips

Charles Darwin looks to be the most credible encounter when it comes to the 2025 Norfolk Stakes. This is borne out by the price of the Aidan O’Brien-trained charge, with the latest success coming at Naas in May. Admittedly, the horse was expected to win at a very short price although this success came after a previous victory at Navan.

Sent off in a Maiden race, the 8/11 favourite was able to oblige by a victory of five and a half lengths. That was over six furlongs on soft ground, with that coming after a debut at the Curragh where the horse fell short as a favourite. Perhaps Naval Light can take advantage, with the Karl Burke making a seasonal debut at Beverley.

On that occasion, the horse produced a strong performance before finishing second to Old Is Gold. The latter is also entered for this race and there was lots to like about that performance over five furlongs. The horse broke his duck at Ascot in May, with the runner only a short distance behind odds-on favourite Military Code.

Military Code could therefore be the best each-way prospect in the race. The Godolphin-trained horse is bidding for a third consecutive success, with a victory coming at Ascot in the middle of May when obliging at odds of 8/11. That came after a 6/1 success at Newmarket a month earlier at betting odds of 6/1.

2024 Norfolk Stakes Tips

Whistlejacket looks like the horse to beat in the Norfolk Stakes and the two-year-old will go off as favourite to land a victory in this five furlong encounter at Royal Ascot. Aidan O’Brien will have plenty of confidence that his charge can run a strong race, with a victory coming at the Curragh when winning the First Flier Stakes as the odds-on favourite.

Previously to this, there was a second-placed finish in a maiden race over six furlongs, although there will be plenty of rivals looking to lower his colours. O’Brien also has Camille Pissarro potentially lining up, with the horse having finished second out of seven runners at the Curragh in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes over six furlongs.

In his previous encounter, the horse obliged as the 10/11 favourite in a maiden race although Raise The Bar could be a market mover and the American raider was a smart winner at Keeneland when being sent off as the favourite in a Maiden Special Weight encounter although that’s his only run to date.

Joseph O’Brien could have a lively competitor in the form of Midnight Strike, with the horse having finished narrowly behind Camille Pissarro in the Marble Hill Stakes and that came after winning at the Curragh. Aidan O’Brien has a smart second string operator in the form of Treasure Isle and the horse triumphed at Naas last time out.

2023 Norfolk Stakes Tips

Elite Status warmed up for the 2023 Royal Hunt Cup by securing a highly impressive win at Sandown Park on his previous outing. Sent off as the 5/2 favourite for this encounter on 25 May, the horse claimed a five-length victory under the ride of Clifford Lee, with trainer Karl Burke seeing his horse shorten dramatically for this encounter at the Royal Ascot meeting.

Burke now expects a bold run at Ascot and actually talked up the horse’s chances more favourably than Dramatised which won last year’s Queen Mary at the same meeting. In his first outing, there was a victory against Battaah over five furlongs at Doncaster Racecourse, with the runner obliging by five lengths and it certainly looks like the one to beat.

American Rascal could be a worthy opponent, with Wesley Ward bringing over a clutch of potential superstars for the 2023 meeting and this two-year-old has been respected by the bookmakers. Little can be gleaned from the horse’s performance in the Maiden Special Weight at Keeneland although it sets the runner up for a big run here.

River Tiber and The Liffey have multiple entries although Aidan O’Brien may decide to send one of these horses down the Royal Hunt Cup route, with Fandom and No Nay Mets also among the potential contenders for a race where we could expect a reasonably sized field over five furlongs.
