Wednesday, 19 June 2024

There’s lots of excitement when it comes to Day Two of the Royal Ascot meeting, with Make Haste one of the leading contenders for a race consisting of five furlongs. There could be a big field of two-year-old fillies, with Mountain Breeze, Truly Enchanting and Bullet also among the leading contenders.

This is a Group 2 encounter scheduled to take place at 2.30pm on Wednesday 19 June, with a prize fund of £150,000 available for this encounter. There are likely to be an increased number of places available along with odds boosts for some of the leading contenders. Compare the latest prices before going ahead with your wagers.

2024 Queen Mary Stakes Tips

Make Haste is among the leading contenders when it comes to the Queen Mary Stakes, with the Diego Dias-trained runner having claimed a victory in her only outing to date. That came in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Naas, with the horse claiming a victory by over three lengths which suggests that she’s a leading contender here.

Mountain Breeze runs for Godolphin and the two-year-old has claimed back to back victories at Newmarket which suggests a strong run could be on the cards. The two wins in May came in impressive fashion, with the Charlie Appleby-trained runner landing a triumph in the Tattersalls £40,000 EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes.

The horse was sent off as the 8/13 favourite in a six furlong encounter, with the runner winning by another comfortable margin suggesting she could be the each-way value here. However, there’s an interesting US raider in the form of Bullet and the Mark Casse-trained horse was able to score at Gulfstream Park last month.

This success came in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes, with Aidan O’Brien training a horse who was successful in a six-runner race recently. Truly Enchanting was able to score at Tipperary, with the horse winning over five furlongs by a nice margin and it will be interesting to see how the runner performs here.

2024 Queen Mary Stakes Tips

It’s easy to see Mountain Breeze running a big race in the Queen Mary Stakes, with the two-year-old having secured back-to-back wins at Newmarket in May. The first of these victories took place over five furlongs when the Godolphin runner was able to oblige as the 7/4 favourite in a novice stakes race where a three-length victory was achieved.

This was followed up by a triumph over six furlongs, with her 100% record now on the line in a competitive Royal Ascot encounter. However, there’s also a case for Make Haste after a smart performance at Naas. On that occasion, the horse was able to fend off nine other rivals to win by three lengths in a five furlong encounter.

We might well see an American raider lining up in this race, with Bullet arriving at Royal Ascot with a glittering reputation. The two-year-old was able to win the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Gulfstream Park over five furlongs, with trainer Mark Casse now hoping for a stellar performance when arriving in England.

Paul & Oliver Cole have a lively chance in the form of Miss Rascal, with the horse having triumphed in her last race at Ascot. Sent off as the 5/6 favourite, the runner was able to claim a three-length win over five furlongs. This came after finishing sixth out of thirteen runners in a Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket.

2023 Queen Mary Stakes Tips

The 2023 Queen Mary Stakes is another fast-run race on Day One of the 2023 Royal Ascot meeting, with some of the best two-year-old fillies from around the world competing. The latest betting suggests that there could be any number of winners of this encounter, with Born To Rock installed as favourite although it’s hard to infer too much.

After all, the filly has only enjoyed one run to date, landing the spoils in a Fillies’ Stakes at Yarmouth where she was able to claim a victory by over four lengths. Perhaps we will get another strong showing here, although Ocean Mermaid looks an interesting runner and the American raider has the potential star quality to win.

Any horse brought over by Wesley Ward has to stand a chance, with the runner sent off as the 4/5 favourite in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes. On that occasion, it was Crimson Advocate who was able to oblige over five furlongs. This is another American raider who could be set to line up in the Queen Mary Stakes.

Navassa Island is trading at a similar price and the horse was able to run well at Naas in her only outing when narrowly being beaten over six furlongs. Classic Flower also has to be respected and the P Cottier-trained runner has turned in a couple of promising victories in France to take her place as a solid contender at Royal Ascot.

2022 Queen Mary Stakes Tips

If Love Reigns falls short in this 2022 Royal Ascot encounter, then perhaps we will see Dramatised land a victory in this race and there’s plenty to recommend this mare. As with Love Reigns, there has only been one performance to judge the horse and that took place at Newmarket where a comfortable victory was achieved.

The K R Burke-trained runner managed to land the spoils in the My Odds Boost On Betfair British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes where Dramatised was able to power home by four lengths as the 9/4 betting favourite.
