2023 The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Betting Odds at Ascot racecourse

Saturday, 24 June 2023

There are several horses trading at single figure betting odds when it comes to the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, with Artorius regarded as the one to beat by the Royal Ascot betting sites. The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained charge has been displaying some strong form Down Under and could be setting a strong benchmark when it comes to this race.

Wellington has a mixture of second and third-placed finishes to his name and has been exclusively been operating at Sha Tin throughout his career, while Highfield Princess has multiple entries although it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the filly take her chances in a race that is also set to include the William Haggas-trained Sacred.

2023 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Tips

The 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes is packed with quality runners and Artorius might be the horse capable of beating his older adversaries. This Group One encounter takes pride of place on Day Five of the 2023 Royal Ascot meeting, with Anthony & Sam Freedman bringing his charge over from Australia for the second consecutive time.

Twelve months ago, the horse finished third in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes, with the runner beaten by big outsider Naval Crown and stablemate Creative Force. The horse then ran into the same position in the Darley July Cup Stakes with Jamie Spencer once again on board, while the horse more recently claimed a win in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes at Randwick.

Wellington is another overseas raider who can make a big impression at Royal Ascot, with Richard Gibson training a runner who has had a succession of performances at Sha Tin. There hasn’t been a win here since 11 December, although the horse has been running in esteemed company and most recently finished third in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize over six furlongs.

Highfield Princess is entered in the King’s Stand Stakes as well as this encounter and perhaps she will take her chances in both races, with the filly having finished second in the 1895 Duke of York Clipper Stakes over six furlongs. She ran in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes last year when finishing sixth and that was one place behind Sacred who also goes in this race.

2022 Platinum Jubilee Stakes Tips

Home Affairs is a three-year-old who is heading the betting market for the Platinum Jubilee Stakes, with the Australian charge set to take his chances after a series of performances Down Under. Chris Waller will have high hopes that the horse can score in England.

The horse finished well down the pecking order when turning out at relatively short odds in the Yulong Stud Newmarket Handicap, while there was more to like about a win in the Black Caviar Lightning and this was a Group 1 encounter where the horse was sent off at 13/2 before beating favourite Nature Strip.

Speaking of Nature Strip, this is a stablemate who will also look to race prominently over the six furlongs at Royal Ascot, with an impressive showing when being sent off as the 13/10 favourite in the Furphy T J Smith Stakes on 2 April 2022.

This is a horse at the other end of the scale from an age point-of-view, with the seven-year-old having bags of experience and lots of wins under the belt. It will be interesting to see how the horse adjusts to a first run in England.

The best performance of the horse’s career took place in the Darley Sprint Classic at Flemington over six furlongs, with the runner obliging as the 2/7 favourite and Chris Waller has suggested there isn’t much between his runners.

2021 Diamond Jubilee Stakes betting odds

The 2021 Diamond Jubilee Stakes offers the winner of this race the princely sum of £400,000 and there’s a chance to see some of the best horses over a distance of six furlongs, with a succession of different trainers having won the race since 2012 and the Royal Ascot racecard is packed with lively runners ready to do battle in this Group 1 encounter.

Dream Of Dreams Back For Another Shot

Dream Of Dreams ran a blinder in the 2020 Diamond Jubilee Stakes and was only narrowly beaten into second by Hello Youzmain, with the former beaten by a head and trainer Sir Michael Stoute will be confident that his charge can run another big race on a track and over a distance where he is clearly comfortable.

Since that race, jockey Oisin Murphy steered the same horse to success in the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes and he then scooped top prize in the Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes although there was a blot on his copybook in the British Champions Sprint Stakes where the horse finished well down the order despite being sent off as favourite.

Glass Slippers Looking to Build on Breeders’ Cup Win

Glass Slippers is definitely a contender and proudly boasts that victory in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Keeneland where the Kevin Ryan-trained charge beat a clutch of talented American horses to cement his reputation in the horse racing world.

Previously to this, the horse finished second in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines over five furlongs on heavy ground, with Glass Slippers finding a few too good for him at last year’s Royal Ascot meeting when finishing fifth behind Battaash and a clutch of other horses.

Who Are the Other Diamond Jubilee Leading Contenders?

Art Power is a talented four-year-old who must stand a chance of winning this race, with trainer Tim Easterby confident that his young horse can build on that fourth-placed finish in the British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot and that was a performance that saw him finish ahead of Dream Of Dreams.

He previously finished fourth behind the same horse in the Betfair Sprint Cup, so there’s definitely scope for a fine performance here, while Glen Shiel might be the real betting value considering he won that race on British Champions Day and has enough about him to run a big race in this one.

The History of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes

The Diamond Jubilee Stakes was originally established in 1868, having originally been called the All-Aged Stakes. It then became the Cork and Orrery Stakes in 1926 to honour the 9th Earl of Cork, with the present system of race grading taking place in 1971.

Initially this encounter was a Group 3 race although there was Group 2 status in 1998 before being renamed to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2002. It was also at this stage where the race acquired Group 1 status.

In 2005, the race became even more prestigious when it became part of the Global Sprint Challenge. This was an international race series and it takes its place alongside races such as King’s Stand Stakes and July Cup.

Prince Charlie landed three consecutive wins in 1872, 1873 and 1874 and this hat-trick has never been emulated, while more recently Lester Piggott has triumphed ten times as a jockey between 1958 – 1993.

Vincent O’Brien has won five times as a trainer, with Blue Point the most recent winner when the five-year-old triumphed in 2019 to give owner Godolphin and trainer Charlie Appleby their first win in the race.

Blue Point actually enjoyed two victories at the 2019 Royal Ascot meeting when winning the King’s Stand Stakes before claiming a second victory in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and raising his breeding costs significantly.

How to Bet on the Diamond Jubilee Stakes

We generally get a big field for this race where there might be as many as twenty winners lining up and that can mean you enjoy an each-way bet that returns a profit if your horse manages to score a place in the top four frame.

The ground might typically be run on good to firm ground, where you might want to check the latest form guide considering that some of the older horses have a substantial track record.

The 2019 Royal Ascot meeting culminates with yet another glittering racecard on Saturday 22 June. In addition to the Wokingham Stakes and the Hardwicke Stakes, there is also the Diamond Jubilee Stakes which is a Group 1 encounter which is open to horses who are four years old or older.

No more than twenty-five runners can go to post for a race which takes place over six furlongs, with Invincible Army trading as the 3/1 favourite and it’s little surprise considering that the James Tate-trained horse has done absolutely nothing wrong this season.

The four-year-old has an official rating of 112 and the horse was successful at Doncaster in March before claiming victory six weeks later at York. The latter was a Group 2 encounter which saw Invincible Army quicken in the final furlong to beat Major Jumbo.

Tate has described his horse as being in “savage form” ahead of his Royal Ascot engagement, with the trainer full of optimism that we’ll see a big race from the runner.

Tate said: “It would be fantastic and a career highlight were Invincible Army to win. Royal Ascot is the pinnacle but being the pinnacle it’s a very tough place to win.
“To go into the meeting with two favourites is fantastic but I’m trying not to think about it too much and we’re focused on getting them there in the best possible shape.

“Invincible Army is really fresh and well and in savage form – he keeps injuring people by biting their thumbs and giving them thick lips. We’re really looking forward to running him.

“He’s definitely come of age this year and knows what the job is now. He enjoys his routine, plays with us at home then goes to the races and is relaxed.
“He’s matured physically and mentally from three to four, as perhaps he was always bred to do, and we’re really enjoying it.

“He has an excellent chance providing the ground isn’t like Tarmac. He has winning form at the course and the straight track with the slight uphill finish really plays to his strengths.

“He’s a big character at home. Sometimes you can catch him in the field but other times it will take you ten minutes and he does it in a playful way.

“He does it with his ears pricked but when he’s playing at 540 kilos with his front feet coming at you and teeth showing it’s not quite as much fun for us as it is him.”

Trainer Charlie Appleby always has a strong book of horses for Royal Ascot and he’s got a runner amongst the favourites for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, with Blue Point trading at around the 7/1 mark at the time of writing.

The five-year-old has landed a hat-trick of victories this season although it’s hard to marry that form at Meydan compared to some of the other horses who have been running in these parts.

However, Blue Point has won over six furlongs on two occasions and will have jockey William Buick trying to get a tune out of him again.
