Like the French Derby, the French Oaks is a hugely historic horse race. It was inaugurated in 1843 and it is staged at Chantilly Racecourse. This is a race that takes place over a distance of 2,100 metres and it’s open to three-year-old fillies. Many French-bred horses line up each year along with overseas raiders.

The French Oaks is also known as the Prix de Diane, with this being a Group 1 flat horse race and the race takes place as part of the same meeting as the French Derby. There is the chance to place antepost horse racing bets, with John Gosden having saddled the 2022 winner Nashwa after winning the race for the first time in 2015 with Star of Seville.

It’s often worth noting which jockeys are on board the leading horses, with Pierre-Charles Boudot having been on board Channel in 2019 and Fancy Blue in 2020. It’s actually been the case that several Prix de Diane winners have gone on to win the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
