2023 Seaside Handicap Betting Odds at Chester racecourse

Saturday, 17 June 2023

There’s set to be an intriguing encounter at the Roodee on Saturday, with Chester racecourse having a jam-packed meeting and that includes the Seaside Handicap. A maximum of fourteen runners will compete over seven and a half furlongs, with Man Of Eden and Starnberg the horses who have been afforded the most respect by the bookies.

Saxon King has also been in the winners’ enclosure this season, with Tafreej also catching the eye and there’s little denying that Sophia’s Starlight is well-handicapped for this encounter. However, Man Of Eden has a strong pedigree and Starnberg is bidding to secure a third consecutive win when stepping out at Chester racecourse.

2023 Seaside Handicap Tips

Harry & Roger Charlton have a lively contender for the 2023 Seaside Handicap on Saturday, with Man Of Eden looking well weighted off 8-8 for this encounter over nearly a mile. Back in January, there was a victory at Newcastle although the horse was then well off the pace in a handicap race at Newmarket before a runner-up performance at Goodwood Racecourse.

Starnberg is looking to secure a consecutive hat-trick of victories, with Richard Hannon having a lively runner on his hands and there have been recent wins at York and Nottingham. In the former, the horse was able to score over seven furlongs to win by three and a half lengths, with a seven length win at Nottingham making the horse the one to beat.

Saxon King was able to win the Howden Handicap over one mile on soft ground in early May, with the horse then performing well in the Royal Yorkshire Regiment Handicap when running into third place. Charles Hills’ runner has regularly hit the frame during a career so far and could represent the best each-way selection of all.

Sophia’s Starlight is carrying much less weight and the filly could benefit from a favourable handicap, with the horse coming into this encounter off the back of a win at Wetherby. The favourite was able to win over seven furlongs on good to firm ground, with that coming after a third-placed finish in the Wreay Handicap at Carlisle Racecourse.
