2025 Sceptre Fillies' Stakes Betting Tips
Elmalka is bidding for a first win this season. Roger Varian’s horse has run three times this term, with the four-year-old finishing fourth out of eight at Newmarket last time out. That was in the competitive Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes, with the horse only four lengths off the pace. That came after running well at Longchamp, with the runner in esteemed company once again.
Perhaps Elmalka will find things more to her liking after rubbing shoulders with the elite horses in the Prix d’Ispahan. The horse has also lined up in a Group Two Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket although Queen Of Mougins could be a worthy adversary. Adrian Murray has seen his horse land a stunning victory at the Curragh in mid-August.
Cathedral has run three times last term and the best effort came last time out. The horse performed really well at Chantilly when the horse was runner-up in the Darley Prix Chloe. That came after she was able to outrun her odds as a 33/1 chance in the Coronation Cup at Royal Ascot. There was everything to like about a fourth-placed finish.
Shuwari runs for Ollie Sangster, with the four-year-old having claimed the spoils at Longchamp at the end of August. Sent off as the 14/5 favourite in the Prix de la Cochere, the filly was able to score by a slender margin. That came after a third-placed finish out of seven runners at Haydock Park in a listed race and this could be a worthy each-way contender.

Fair Angellica is a three-year-old who has serious claims when it comes to the Sceptre Fillies' Stakes, with the mare having landed two victories this season. The three-year-old was last seen scoring at Deauville when winning over seven furlongs and there was previously a win on the all-weather at Kempton. However, the runner was well down the order in the Sandringham Stakes.
Matilda Picotte has failed to land a victory this season although the filly could end up being a decent each-way shout, with the four-year-old having finished second at Tipperary last time out. This came after a seventh-placed finish out of fifteen runners at Deauville, with Kieran P Cotter training a horse who has plenty of potential.
Raqiya has secured two wins from three outings this term, with Owen Burrows saddling a three-year-old who was last seen claiming the spoils at Goodwood at the end of July. This victory in the Qatar Oak Tree Stakes came over seven furlongs and there was also a success in a listed race at Salisbury, with more potentially to come.
Firebird has recorded back to back wins at Cork and Naas this season, with the former victory coming against fourteen other runners. There was then a following success at short odds, although she was beaten by a 50/1 chance in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes over six furlongs, with Super Sox another one for the shortlist.
