2023 Hell Nook Handicap Betting Odds at Haydock Park racecourse

Saturday, 27 May 2023

There’s not much to separate the first three in the betting at the time of writing when it comes to the Hell Nook Handicap, with Fennor Cross the one trading at the shortest odds right now. The six-year-old has had a long absence from the track but his form last year implies that there’s a strong chance and the runner’s weight looks favourable.

Carzola has bagged three successive wins and trainer Ralph Beckett will hope that the two mile trip suits this runner, with Law Of The Sea also respected by the horse racing betting sites. Ian Williams will feel as though the five-year-old has strong place claims and there are then several horses trading at around the 10/1 mark to land a victory.

Fennor Cross put together a string of impressive runs last season and perhaps the John C McConnell-trained runner can now take to flat conditions in a similar style. In the recent William Hill Handicap Hurdle at Aintree Racecourse, with the runner winning over two miles and four furlongs after previously running at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The horse was sent off at odds of 80/1 in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and struggled to make an impact, although there could be plenty to offer in a less competitive race at Haydock Racecourse, with Carzola the next horse in the betting. The four-year-old has bags of talent and has enjoyed three successive wins.

The Ralph Beckett-trained charge was able to recently win a handicap at Doncaster when fending off the challenge of three other rivals, while there were previously victories on the all-weather at Lingfield. The horse looks capable of running a big race over two miles and should be suited to the trip along with the going.

Law Of The Sea doesn’t have fantastic form to write home about, although the Ian Williams-trained runner has been respected by the layers for this encounter, with the horse outrunning his odds at 40/1 when competing in the Chester Cup over two miles, two and a half furlongs on soft ground.
