Summer Plate Handicap Chase Results at Market Rasen — 19 July 2025

Saturday, 19 July 2025

There is a wide open look about the Unibet Summer Plate Handicap Chase, with runners and riders competing over two miles, five and a half furlongs. Mole Court is a seven-year-old running for Ben Pauling, with a fourth-placed finish recently registered, while Soul Icon has secured a bunch of second-placed efforts in recent times.

Hang In There was successful last time out and there could still be life in the ten-year-old, while Lipa K can’t be discounted despite unseating his rider last time out. Sure Touch bagged a string of wins last term and could be a decent each-way shout providing that the horse is able to make another impression.

2024 Summer Plate Handicap Chase Tips

Mole Court heads the betting for this long distance race and the seven-year-old was able to finish fourth last time out, with the Ben Pauling-trained runner having performed well in the bet365 Summer Cup Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter. There was previously a victory at Huntingdon and could be the one to beat.

Soul Icon has made a habit of finishing in second place recently, with the seven-year-old last seen as the runner-up at Aintree in May, with the horse having finished second at Ayr in April although it’s been a long time since we saw a victory. Perhaps Sure Touch could be considered as a more viable contender.

The eight-year-old has landed three consecutive wins and the latest of these came at Perth where the 11/8 favourite was able to oblige by five lengths. This came after previously obliging at Taunton where six rivals were fended off and this followed a success at Uttoxeter during the festive season.

Hang In There is an older adversary who was able to score a success last time out, with Emma Lavelle saddling a runner who was able to claim the spoils at Uttoxeter at the end of June. This came after finishing second at Cheltenham and Perth, with Lipa K trading at a similar price and the six-year-old landed a victory this season.

Courtland is the horse who boasts excellent form coming into the Unibet Summer Plate Handicap Chase, with Peter Bowen having seen his charge land a hat-trick of wins. At the end of May, the runner landed the spoils at Worcester before another win at the same track in June. The horse’s last victory came at Market Rasen in early July.

Francky Du Berlais has shown that he’s a capable performer, with the ten-year-old bidding for a final hurrah and the runner was last seen finishing third at Market Rasen. This is a horse that has run in a Grand National during this calendar year, with the big issue potentially being the amount of weight needing to be carried.

La Domaniale comes into this race off the back of a victory, with the seven-year-old having looked impressive when winning a handicap chase over two miles and four furlongs. The Jonjo O’Neill-trained runner previously ran well at Cheltenham, although Born Famous has enjoyed that winning feeling a number of times this season.

The horse has now enjoyed four successive victories, with three of them coming at Perth although perhaps it’s the win recorded at Aintree that is the most telling. That came over three miles, half a furlong, with Iain Jardine having a runner that should be able to cover the distance no problem and this looks to be the best each-way chance.
