2025 Intermediate Handicap Hurdle Betting Odds at Newbury racecourse

Saturday, 29 November 2025

There’s an exciting betting contest ahead of the Coral Racing Club Intermediate Handicap Hurdle, with this being the fifth race on the Newbury Racecourse card. There are thirteen runners lining up and the front two in the betting are Indemnity and Live Conti. These horses should well over two miles, half a furlong but there are other strong contenders.

Viyanni was a smart performer last season and claimed two victories towards the back end of the campaign. Similarly, Indeevar Bleu is an experienced campaigner which might reward each-way backers. Give It To Me Oj has claimed three successive wins and could also be worthy of consideration, with the horse running for Gary & Josh Moore.

Out of the thirteen horses running in the Coral Racing Club Intermediate Handicap Hurdle, the majority of the field have a chance of landing a success. Indemnity runs for Emma Lavelle and the five-year-old has a strong track record. This horse looks favourably weighted and finished second at Ascot in the beginning of November.

That came after three successive wins. The latest of these successes came at Market Rasen when the 5/4 favourite was able to oblige over two miles, half a furlong. That came after beating two other horses at Warwick and there was an April triumph at Huntingdon where the 11/8 favourite won a handicap hurdle over two miles.

Live Conti could go well for Dan Skelton, with this being the top-weighted horse although he could still end up having the class to land a victory. Back in April, a runner-up spot was secured in a field of thirteen horses at Aintree. It was an impressive showing in a four-year-old juvenile hurdle, with that coming after a straightforward win at Wetherby.

Viyanni returns to the track for Harry Derham and last February, the horse was able to score at short odds when running at Ludlow. There was also a solid showing at Ascot in the Juvenile Hurdle back in January when the 9/1 shot was able to claim third spot when finishing behind favourite Lulamba and Mondo Man.

Under Control returns to the course after over 200 days away from the track, with the horse last seen obliging at Sandown Park when winning the bet365 Novices' Championship Final Handicap Hurdle. It was a strong performance over two miles on soft ground, with the horse just doing enough to win by half a length.

Previously to this came a victory in the Fillies’ Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, with Brentford Hope also coming into the race off the back of a win. Sent off as the 11/4 joint-favourite in the Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Newbury, the horse was seriously impressive when registering a sixteen-length victory.

There could be more to come from the Harry Derham-trained runner, with the horse likely to run well over two miles, half a furlong. Hansard could also be a lively contender and the five-year-old is likely to be the most popular each-way selection in the race. The runner was sent off at a massive 40/1 in the Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree last April.

However, Hansard outran these odds to finish in fourth place, with another solid performance coming in the JenningsBet Elite Hurdle at Wincanton Racecourse, with other bigger priced selections also likely to run into the places. Some bookies will offer extra places and that could bring Matterhorn and Our Champ into consideration.
