Chalice Stakes 2026 Betting Odds

Saturday 1 August 2026 · Newmarket · By Matthew Glazier · Last updated

There’s an interesting betting market when it comes to the British Stallion Studs EBF Chalice Stakes, with the runners and riders battling it out on the July Course at Newmarket. Gone By is bidding for a third straight win and looks capable of delivering for Ralph Beckett, with the horse having produced some impressive performances this term.

Romantic Symphony was a winner on the all-weather at the start of the season and has since run well a couple more times. Revoir has been runner-up on two occasions this term and has the potential to go one better. There’s also Ribbon Of Sea who has claimed two top two finishes for Charlie Appleby and could be in the mix.

Chalice Stakes Betting Tips

Gone By catches the eye and looks a decent each-way punt for the British Stallion Studs EBF Chalice Stakes. Ralph Beckett’s three-year-old has been in the first two home in all four efforts thus far. It started with a runner-up spot as a juvenile at Newbury back in October, with this being followed by a second-placed effort at Ascot in May.

There was then a facile win at Ripon before a handicap success at Salisbury. Granted, this was only achieved against two other runners although we’re expecting a bold run at a big price. The favourite is Romantic Symphony and the Godolphin charge should be able to go well based on form. There was a second-placed effort at Longchamp in a competitive listed race.

Revoir was second at Haydock Park in May, with the horse a narrow runner-up in the Hedge Of Oak Stakes. The runner then went to Pontefract and produced a strong performance in a fillies’ stakes race. There was a slightly below-par last time out, with the 7/5 favourite only managing a midfield effort at Newmarket but at least the horse will be familiar with this track.

Ribbon Of Sea is another Charlie Appleby-trained runner who was able to win at Wolverhampton in March, with the 4/5 favourite obliging over one mile, one and a half furlongs. More recently, there was a runner-up spot at Sandown Park that was secured in a novice stakes over a mile and two furlongs on good ground.
