2024 Fillies Mile Betting Odds at Newmarket racecourse

Friday, 11 October 2024

We’re interested to see who will be the standout filly when it comes to this Group 1 contest, with Desert Flower the horse who is regarded as the most likely winner according to the Newmarket betting odds. The charge has recorded three consecutive wins although this could be her toughest assignment against a quality field.

Dreamy is one of several Aidan O’Brien-trained runners who could make an impact, with Bubbling, Ballet Slippers and Giselle also posing a threat, while Tabiti has a lively chance for trainer Tabiti. It will be interesting to see where the money goes, with Anna Swan another unbeaten filly available at a big price.

2024 Fillies Mile Tips

Desert Flower is regarded as the horse to beat when it comes to the prestigious bet365 Fillies’ Mile, with the two-year-old having racked up three successive wins thus far. The Charlie Appleby-trained charge claimed a victory at Doncaster in mid-September, with the horse previously triumphing securing the spoils at Newmarket in early August.

Dreamy also boasts a 100% record coming into this race, with Aidan O’Brien having high hopes for a horse who was last seen winning at The Curragh at the end of August. In the Irish EBF Stakes, the filly was sent off as the 6/5 favourite before obliging over a mile, while the horse opened her account with a seven furlong win at Goodwood.

Bubbling has run four times already, with the filly last seen obliging at Newmarket when scoring as the 11/8 favourite when winning the Rockfel Stakes. That was over seven furlongs, with that coming after a third-placed finish out of nine horses in a competitive encounter at Leopardstown, with a win coming at Galway at the end of July.

Ballet Slippers has improved position-wise in each of her three races so far, finishing third at the Curragh before returning to the track and finishing second despite being sent off as the 8/13 favourite. Then came a victory at Ascot although her odds of 1/4 indicated that it was an expected win and more improvement might be needed here.

2023 Fillies’ Mile Tips

Shuwari has run really well this season and it’s easy to see why the horse racing bookmakers have the runner at short odds favourite to claim a victory in the bet365 Fillies’ Mile. There was a win at Newbury in June when beating favourite Lady Of Leisure over seven furlongs, while that was followed by a success in the Star Stakes at Sandown Park.

More recently, the filly was able to finish second to Carla’s Way in the Dubai Rockfel Stakes and perhaps the runner will benefit from the extra furlong that this race provides. It will be interesting to see how Ylang Ylang is able to compete against the market leader, with the horse two lengths behind her adversary in the above race.

Aidan O’Brien will hope that the form is franked and perhaps the horse needed the latest run to get back on track after an underwhelming outing in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh. The horse finished bang last despite being the short priced favourite, with the filly previously scoring victories at the Curragh and Leopardstown.

Opera Singer has won three of the previous four races and perhaps this is the Aidan O’Brien-trained runner to back. There was a recent success at Longchamp when the filly was able to score a five-length win in the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac - Criterium des Pouliches and a repeat performance here might be enough to get the job done.

2022 Fillies Mile Tips

The big question might come down to this: do you back Commissioning for the big race at Newmarket on 7 October or look for an alternative at a bigger price? The two-year-old has already claimed consecutive wins at HQ this season, with the first victory coming in a Fillies’ Novice Stakes on 30 July over seven furlongs.

Then came a more impressive win in the Group 2 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Rockfel Stakes, with the runner sent off at 7/2 and that was a victory by nearly three lengths, although there’s likely to be a stiff test of her credentials when it comes to completing a three-timer given the pedigree of the other runners.

Never Ending Story might be trading at a bigger price although she has been pitted against more esteemed company in her races. Having been sent off at 9/1 in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh over seven furlongs, there was a fourth-placed finish behind Tahiyra, Meditate and Eternal Silence.

Meditate is clearly an interesting runner if she lines up in the Fillies Mile and there were four straight victories for the O’Brien runner before two second-placed finishes including that race at The Curragh. Mawj could be the dangerous Godolphin horse in the race and there was a recent third-placed finish in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes.

Who Are the bookies Favourites for 2021 Fillies’ Mile?

Inspiral looks to be the horse to beat and the John Gosden-trained two-year-old who kicked off her career by landing a victory in the Close Brothers Maiden Fillies' Stakes, while the horse then obliged at even money when winning the British Stallion Studs EBF Star Stakes which gives her some decent credentials for this clash.

However, Inspiral could still be relatively green after running only twice, with Oscula lining up in the race and she has more experience on her side. George Boughey saw his charge line up in the Prix du Calvados at Deauville although the horse fell short as the 7/5 favourite after previously performing well to win the Prix Six Perfections Sky Sports Racing at the same track.

The horse also ran well when finishing third in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and we can’t help but feel that the experience will help her run into the frame.

Agartha and Majestic Glory Among Race Favourites

Agartha doesn’t have an official rating right now, although the Joseph O’Brien-trained runner is among the betting favourites to win the 2021 Fillies’ Mile, with the horse recently landing a victory in the Alpha Centauri Debutante Stakes as the 4/1 co-favourite and this was a two-length win at The Curragh.

Previously to this, Declan McDonogh had rode her to a 16/1 triumph and this was in a Group 3 race at Leopardstown, with Juncture and Prettiest among the horses who were beaten in that showdown, while there had previously been a strong performance in the Fillies Maiden where the horse finished second.

Majestic Glory is actually bidding for a consecutive hat-trick of wins and the latest of these was a very credible 5/1 success in the Group 3 Solera Stakes, with Andrew Balding now saddling her up for the 2021 Fillies’ Mile, with the horse previously winning a Novice Stakes as the 11/8 favourite.
