2022 Fillies Mile Tips
The big question might come down to this: do you back Commissioning for the big race at Newmarket on 7 October or look for an alternative at a bigger price? The two-year-old has already claimed consecutive wins at HQ this season, with the first victory coming in a Fillies’ Novice Stakes on 30 July over seven furlongs.
Then came a more impressive win in the Group 2 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Rockfel Stakes, with the runner sent off at 7/2 and that was a victory by nearly three lengths, although there’s likely to be a stiff test of her credentials when it comes to completing a three-timer given the pedigree of the other runners.
Never Ending Story might be trading at a bigger price although she has been pitted against more esteemed company in her races. Having been sent off at 9/1 in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh over seven furlongs, there was a fourth-placed finish behind Tahiyra, Meditate and Eternal Silence.
Meditate is clearly an interesting runner if she lines up in the Fillies Mile and there were four straight victories for the O’Brien runner before two second-placed finishes including that race at The Curragh. Mawj could be the dangerous Godolphin horse in the race and there was a recent third-placed finish in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes.
Who Are the bookies Favourites for 2021 Fillies’ Mile?
Inspiral looks to be the horse to beat and the John Gosden-trained two-year-old who kicked off her career by landing a victory in the Close Brothers Maiden Fillies' Stakes, while the horse then obliged at even money when winning the British Stallion Studs EBF Star Stakes which gives her some decent credentials for this clash.
However, Inspiral could still be relatively green after running only twice, with Oscula lining up in the race and she has more experience on her side. George Boughey saw his charge line up in the Prix du Calvados at Deauville although the horse fell short as the 7/5 favourite after previously performing well to win the Prix Six Perfections Sky Sports Racing at the same track.
The horse also ran well when finishing third in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and we can’t help but feel that the experience will help her run into the frame.
Agartha and Majestic Glory Among Race Favourites
Agartha doesn’t have an official rating right now, although the Joseph O’Brien-trained runner is among the betting favourites to win the 2021 Fillies’ Mile, with the horse recently landing a victory in the Alpha Centauri Debutante Stakes as the 4/1 co-favourite and this was a two-length win at The Curragh.
Previously to this, Declan McDonogh had rode her to a 16/1 triumph and this was in a Group 3 race at Leopardstown, with Juncture and Prettiest among the horses who were beaten in that showdown, while there had previously been a strong performance in the Fillies Maiden where the horse finished second.
Majestic Glory is actually bidding for a consecutive hat-trick of wins and the latest of these was a very credible 5/1 success in the Group 3 Solera Stakes, with Andrew Balding now saddling her up for the 2021 Fillies’ Mile, with the horse previously winning a Novice Stakes as the 11/8 favourite.
