2023 Guineas Festival Handicap Tips
Halic is the runner that looks the best betting odds to land a victory in the 2023 Guineas Festival Handicap, with the five-year-old finishing second in the All-Weather Vase Marathon Handicap at Lingfield last month, with Robert Eddery expecting big things from a horse that appears to be trading at a backable each-way price.
This came after a win at Chelmsford in the Peggy Steeden Handicap over one mile, five and a half furlongs. However, there’s a reason why Israr is trading as the favourite and the four-year-old finished midfield at Doncaster in November, although this was a competitive encounter over one mile and four furlongs on heavy ground.
Israr was previously successful at the same track when winning the Stockbrokers Handicap, with Cemhaan also appearing in that November Handicap and also finishing well down the order. However, the runner did get a taste of victory when scoring in a handicap race at Newmarket when winning on the July course.
HMS President finished runner-up in the Rosebery Handicap over one mile and three furlongs on the all-weather at Kempton Racecourse. Rossa Ryan gave the horse an excellent spin considering that it was regarded as a 28/1 outsider and there have been some previously strong performances that means each-way value could be had.
