2026 Scilly Isles Novices Chase Betting Odds at Sandown Park racecourse

Saturday, 31 January 2026

The 2026 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase will feature a maximum of nine runners, with the majority of the field standing a reasonable chance of victory. The action will take place over two miles and four furlongs, with Kitzbuhel having landed two successive wins this season. The Willie Mullins-trained charge certainly looks the one to beat on paper.

Steel Ally has also landed successive wins this term, with Sam Thomas saddling a runner who could be a value bet based on exploits so far. Kala Conti has also been in the winners' enclosure this season, with this representing a strong chance for Gordon Elliott. Sixmilebridge and Jimmy Du Seuil are also good each-way contenders.

2026 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase Betting Tips

We're always interested in the big Grade One encounters, with the Scilly Isles Novices' Chase featuring nine runners and at least six horses have a solid chance of victory. None have a greater prospect than Kitzbuhel who was an impressive winner at Kempton Park on Boxing Day. The 13/8 favourite was able to score by nearly three lengths in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase.

Willie Mullins' charge won over three miles on good ground, beating a field of five horses, with that coming after a late November success at Punchestown. Sent off as the odds-on favourite for that encounter, with there was plenty to like about a Beginners Chase success over two miles and three furlongs, with this coming on heavy ground.

Steel Ally is trained by Sam Thomas and the horse has racked up successive wins this term. On 19 December, the runner was able to oblige at Ascot over two miles and three furlongs. In a Grade Two Novices' Chase, it was an impressive nine-length triumph on soft ground, with this coming after an odds-on success at Carlisle in November.

Kala Conti has enjoyed a winning double this term, with Gordon Elliott saddling a six-year-old who will have the mares' allowance for this race. The horse was able to oblige at Cork in early December when enjoying a massive sixteen-length victory over two miles and a furlong. That came after a November win at the same Irish track and this was another impressive winning distance.

2024 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase Tips

The Scilly Isles Novices' Chase features prominently on the Sandown racecard this coming Saturday, with seven runners set to line up to compete over two miles and four furlongs. Hermes Allen could set the benchmark in this race, with the horse having won a race at Newbury back in December before finishing second out of six at Kempton.

Emmet Mullins has Corbetts Cross lining up for this horse race, with the seven-year-old having posted three top three finishes this season. Having finished third out of nine runners at Naas, the runner was then able to land a victory at Fairyhouse against a dozen competitors. Then came a second-placed finished behind Grangeclare West at Leopardstown.

Djelo enjoyed three successive wins before falling in his most recent outing. After securing wins at Aintree, Newbury and Ascot, the runner went tumbling at a very early stage of proceedings. It wouldn’t come as a big surprise if the horse was able to deliver again here and the racing odds suggest that there’s a good chance of it happening.

Le Patron has been able to rack up three successive wins and trainer Gary Moore scored at Fontwell in October before following this up with a brace of victories at Sandown. There was a ten-length triumph in November against three other runners before winning on heavy ground at the beginning of December.

2023 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase Tips

Gerri Colombe will get his stiffest test yet when lining up in the 2023 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase although the Gordon Elliott-trained charge hasn’t put a foot wrong so far. It has now been seven successive victories for the Irish raider who won the Guinness Faugheen Novice Chase on Boxing Day, with the horse obliging as the 4/5 favourite over two miles, three-and-a-half furlongs.

Previously to this, there was a win in the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee Beginners Chase over two miles and five furlongs, although this will be a sterner test and Monmiral looks capable of a big race. The Paul Nicholls runner has to be respected after finishing second to Epatante in the Betway Aintree Hurdle back in April.

Since then, the horse then finished a distant second behind Jonbon at Warwick Racecourse before a solid run in the Paddy Power Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham when beaten by The Real Whacker. However, some each-way punters will instead by looking at Balco Coastal and Nicky Henderson will be encouraged by his most recent outing.

Having been sent off as the joint-favourite for a Handicap Chase at Kempton Park over two miles, four-and-a-half furlongs, he was able to record a nine-length victory on Boxing Day and has to be respected after that performance. He was also solid enough when finishing third in the Aintree Handicap Hurdle.
