2026 Hong Kong Derby Betting Tips
Numbers looks the likely favourite for the 2026 Hong Kong Derby, with the horse obliging at Sha Tin at the end of December. That success came in the Long Ke Handicap when scoring over one mile and two furlongs. The horse then returned to the same track where an early February victory was achieved after landing a two-length margin of success.
The question mark is whether Numbers can bounce back after only managing to finish fourth in the Hong Kong Classic Cup. In fairness, it was a close finish although the horse was beaten by two of the runners who will now line up in this race. Perhaps Little Paradise is a better alternative considering the solid credentials being boasted.
The latter is trained by Jimmy Ting and there were three straight wins at Sha Tin between December and February. The latest victory involved the horse winning the Hong Kong Classic Mile where a two-length success was achieved although the runner underwhelmed as the 6/4 favourite last time out. In the above Classic Cup, the charge finished well down the order.
Stormy Grove is our idea of a good bet at a bigger price. There was a mid-February success at Sha Tin when scoring in the Miss Hong Kong Pageant Handicap, with the horse then surprising everyone with that big priced success in the Hong Kong Classic Cup. Sent off at 21/1, the horse managed to stay the best and a similar story could happen here.
