Duke Of Edinburgh 2027 Betting Odds

Friday 18 June 2027 · Ascot · By Matthew Glazier · Last updated

The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes is a competitive handicap taking place on Friday. Interestingly, some of the horses at the lower end of the weights order are among the favourites, with that including Opportunity who was a winner last time out. William Haggas saddles this runner but perhaps stablemate Yabher could be a better option.

Warrant Holder runs for the crown and there's plenty to get excited about when it comes to this Gosden-trained charge. Hopewell Rock goes for George Boughey although there hasn't been a notable win recently. Emit has also run plenty of times this term without success, while Gamrai catches the eye at a bigger price and that's another Gosden contender.

2026 Duke of Edinburgh Stakes Betting Tips

Trainer William Haggas could hold the keys to this race, with Yabher looking like a rock solid contender when it comes to the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes. The latest victory came at Goodwood in early May when a six-length success was recorded in a handicap race over one mile and two furlongs. The horse made all to register a win and that was highly impressive.

Previously to this, there was a win in the Old Rowley Cup Handicap at Newmarket. That was a success in October over one mile and four furlongs. The horse was victorious at Sandown in July 2025 and the only real blot on the copybook was a below-par effort at Goodwood at the beginning of August. However, the runner has largely obliged for the connections.

The other Haggas contender is Opportunity who could go well off a low weight. There was a success at Carlisle at the end of May, with the horse obliging as the 11/10 favourite over one mile and three furlongs. That came after a third-placed finish at Ascot over one mile and four furlongs, with this definitely a horse for the shortlist.

Warrant Holder definitely has the potential to land the spoils, with the king's horse having delivered a convincing performance in the middle of May. That was a one length success in a handicap over one mile, two and a half furlongs, with that coming after a win in October. The latter victory was recorded on the all-weather at Newcastle.
