2025 October Stakes Betting Odds at Ascot racecourse

Saturday, 04 October 2025

There are six races on Ascot’s Saturday card and it all starts with the October Stakes. This seven-furlong encounter is set to go off at 1.15pm, with Bright Thunder having produced some smart performances this term. The four-year-old has a solid official rating although there’s not much difference in the prices of this horse and several others.

Cajole has delivered the goods on more than one occasion this season and John & Thady Gosden will feel as though the horse can deliver for them. Flight is also a horse that has shown flashes of promise this term, with Elim returning exactly a year after the last run. Miss Nightfall could also be in the mix when this race is run.

2025 Ascot October Stakes Betting Tips

Bright Thunder is potentially the one to beat in the October Stakes at Ascot. This is a Class 1 encounter and the horse was last seen finishing runner-up at Doncaster in mid-September. That was in the Group 3 Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes, with that being over seven furlongs on soft ground. This came after a solid fifth-placed effort in the BetMGM Atalanta Stakes.

Finishing narrowly ahead of Bright Thunder on that occasion was Cajole and we might see the Gosden-trained charge be in the final shake-up. We’re likely to see William Buick on board a horse that ran well at Ascot in the Longines Valiant Stakes over a mile. That was on good ground and the mare is likely to find conditions to her liking.

Flight is yet to win this season and there was a somewhat underwhelming effort at Sandown towards the end of August. In the Atalanta Stakes, she finished third last in this encounter, with previous efforts at the Curragh and Newmarket being much better. In the latter race, the horse finished runner-up in the Epsom Oaks at lumpy odds of 28/1.

Elim is something of an unknown quantity after a long lay-off, with Edward Bethell hoping that his five-year-old is raring to go on a return to the track. The last effort actually came at Ascot in the October Stakes of 2024. On that occasion, the horse was sent off as the favourite before winding up in third place.
