After the excitement of the Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes on Day Four of the 2023 Royal Ascot meeting, there is the Palace of Holyrood House Stakes to cap off the day. There will be a maximum of twenty-eight runners competing over five furlongs for an encounter which is sure to be a dash to the line on firm ground.

The track has been watered although we should still expect the race to be run at a fast pace. Conquistador is the horse most likely to be favourite, with Pinafore, Frankness and Danger Alert also the market leaders who can make an impact. Conquistador is a horse who is bidding to secure a third consecutive victory, with the three-year-old trading at single figure odds and the George Boughey-trained runner has plenty to recommend him. There was a Boxing Day win at Wolverhampton and that was followed by a success at Lingfield in March, with the horse now taking her chances at Royal Ascot.

Pinafore is another winner on the previous outing and the horse was able to claim a victory at odds-on when scoring in a field out of five runners at Ripon. Previously to this was a fourth-placed finish out of fourteen horses when winning the bet365 Handicap over six furlongs. William Haggas could be set to train his latest winner at the meeting.

Frankness could also go well off a favourable mark and Andrew Balding trains a runner who has to carry more weight than the majority of horses in the field. The horse’s rating increased in June when scoring as the 7/4 favourite in a Fillies Handicap over six furlongs and that was a first win at five attempts.

The horse that catches the eye on the Royal Ascot racecard is Quinault, with the horse securing five consecutive wins and could be set to run a big race for trainer Stuart Williams. The runner has found various levels of improvement to record those wins and the latest came in a recent Sprint Handicap at York Racecourse.
