2026 Sagaro Stakes Betting Tips
Sweet William is a warm order for the Sagaro Stakes, with the horse having previously ran in esteemed company. John & Thady Gosden saddles a seven-year-old who finished second in the Long Distance Cup on British Champions Day at Ascot. The horse ran really well when finishing a length and a half behind odds-on favourite Trawlerman.
That came after a notable success at Doncaster where the Doncaster Cup Stakes was landed by a distance of nearly four lengths. Over two miles and two furlongs, it was a strong effort and there was also a runner-up spot in the Lonsdale Cup Stakes at York. The horse previously fared well in the Goodwood Cup Stakes and could prosper against lesser opposition.
However, there are other strong contenders lining up. Caballo De Mar runs for George Scott and the five-year-old certainly has bold claims. The last outing came at Meydan at the end of March where the 15/2 shot was half a length away from a solid victory. Back in the autumn of 2025, there were wins at Dortmund and Longchamp.
Tarriance was able to land a couple of successes last term, with the four-year-old having finished third on a seasonal debut. That came at Riyadh in February, with the horse having previously found the going too difficult at Doncaster as an outsider. There was a victory in the Melrose Handicap at York and there could be more to come.

Coltrane is the odds-on favourite to win the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot Racecourse. The last time we saw the horse perform was at Longchamp back in October. It was an impressive showing over two miles and four furlongs, with the horse only two lengths behind massive favourite Kyprios. Considering the runner was sent off at 23/1, it was a solid achievement.
Indeed, Coltrane has been running in esteemed company and there was also a decent showing in the Doncaster Cup Stakes back in September. The horse was able to perform well at odds of 11/1, with the runner going well over two miles and two furlongs. A fourth-placed finish came out of six runners and there was only four lengths separating him from the front.
Divine Comedy is a seven-year-old finished as runner-up last time out. Harry Eustace trained a runner who was able to finish second out of four horses at Nottingham. This came over one mile and six furlongs, with a really impressive outing coming in the Irish Cesarewitch when finishing tenth out of a field of thirty runners.
Yashin has plenty to prove for Michael Bell and returns to the track after a long absence. The six-year-old might find the two mile trip a little on the stiff side and he returns after wind surgery. This came after previously finishing sixth at Leopardstown in a field of ten runners, with that coming after a disappointing showing at York.
