2025 Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices' Chase Betting Tips
July Flower is the horse most likely to win the Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices' Chase in the eyes of the layers. There was a victory last time out, with the odds-on favourite able to score at Limerick over two miles and three furlongs. Previously to this, there was a disappointing showing at Punchestown after a fifth-placed finish in the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Burdett Road is a five-year-old with a bright future. There was a seasonal debut at Newmarket where the horse performed well enough in a listed race on the flat. Then came a fetching effort at Kempton Racecourse where the horse only just finished second to odds-on favourite Rubaud and there could be more to come from this charge.
Be Aware has multiple entries but could end up being rerouted to this race, with solid efforts at Cheltenham and Aintree coming last season. More recently, the horse performed well at Stratford when beginning a chasing career with a victory. That was over two miles, three and a half furlongs where a four-length success was enjoyed.
Relieved Of Duties has run four times this term and Gordon Elliott’s charge could be good each-way value. Last time out, there was a second-placed finish in a two-mile novices’ chase at Cheltenham. It was a bold showing at odds of 12/1, with that coming after a success in a beginners chase at Fairyhouse over two miles, half a furlong.
2024 Paddy Power Arkle Tips
One of the biggest races at Cheltenham on Saturday is the Paddy Power Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices' Chase, with this Grade 2 race seeing thirteen runners embarking over thirteen fences. L'Eau du Sud produced a solid performance at Stratford at the end of October, winning by ten lengths and the bookies make the horse the one to beat here.
Last April, there was a fifth-placed finish out of fifteen runners at Ascot, with that coming after an impressive showing at the Cheltenham Festival. Sent off as the 7/2 favourite in the County Hurdle, the horse was narrowly touched off and the same thing happened previously at Newbury in a large field of runners.
Jordans runs for Joseph O’Brien and the five-year-old has bagged a runner-up spot and a victory already this season. He was able to triumph as the 11/4 favourite at Punchestown in the middle of October and that came after finishing second out of six runners at Listowel although this is a sterner test of his credentials.
There’s little to separate Iberico Lord and Path d’Oroux in the betting market, with the former returning to the track after a long lay-off. Nicky Henderson’s horse was pulled up in the Champion Hurdle although we should note that he was able to beat L’Eau du Sud at Newbury back in February and perhaps he could repeat this achievement.
2023 Arkle Challenge Trophy Tips
Unexpected Party was successful at Chepstow last month when beating Knappers Hill in a Novices’ Chase, with the eight-year-old enjoying a victory of nearly three lengths against the odds-on favourite. Dan Skelton will expect his horse to come on for that run and the horse really rose to prominence at last year’s Cheltenham Festival despite being regarded as a no-hoper.
Sent off at odds of 100/1 in the Turners’ Novices Chase, Unexpected Party was a lot more competitive than expected, with a third-placed finish then coming in a Novices Chase at Ayr. However, there are plenty of potential winners in this particular field and that includes Mighty Tom who has posted back to back runner-up spots.
Cian Collins will hope his charge can go one better here, with the horse recently finishing second over two miles and four furlongs at Cork Racecourse. It was a smart performance in a Novice Chase even if he was unable to lay a glove on favourite and winner Letsbeclearaboutit. The horse will be carrying less weight than the market leader.
Homme Public is a six-year-old with potential and there was a notable win at Wetherby last time out, with the 5/2 favourite claiming a handicap chase win over one mile and seven furlongs. The King Of Ryhope could also go well based on a recent outing at Chepstow Racecourse where a handicap chase victory was landed over two miles and three furlongs.
