2023 Dipper Novices Chase Betting Odds at Cheltenham racecourse

Sunday, 01 January 2023

Monmiral is likely to go off favourite for this big race at Cheltenham Racecourse, with the six-year-old having been impressive in his seasonal outing, while Thunder Rock is also trading at short betting odds. Olly Murphy will have high hopes for his charge although there are a couple of notable horses available at backable each-way prices.

Beauport and Bold Endeavour are horses with the potential to run a big race over two miles, four-and-a-half furlongs, with Harper’s Brook and The Real Whacker having other place claims. This is the third of seven races on the Cheltenham racecard, with some bookies likely to offer price boosts.

2023 Paddy Power Novices’ Chase Tips

The Paddy Power Novices’ Chase takes place at 1.20pm on 1 January 2023, with nine runners lining up to tackle the undulating course at Prestbury Park. Each-way backers will be able to secure three places and there might also be price boosts when it comes to some of the leading favourites including Monmiral, with the Paul Nicholls-trained horse having plenty to recommend him.

The horse finished second behind Jonbon in a three-horse race in the Highflyer Bloodstock Novices' Chase at Warwick Racecourse, with this coming after a prolonged absence. Monmiral previously scored a second place in the Grand National meeting at Aintree when finishing second to Epatante in the Betway Aintree Hurdle.

However, many might prefer the chances of Thunder Rock and there is plenty to like about the Olly Murphy-trained runner considering that we’ve seen the horse achieve three consecutive victories. The horse obliged as favourite at Ayr Racecourse on 1 April, with the horse scoring in the Kalahari King Novices' Limited Handicap Chase before a further win at Ascot.

Beauport and Bold Endeavour come next in the betting, with the former winning a listed race at Carlisle Racecourse although he finished a long way behind Ballygrifincottage at Haydock last time out. As for Bold Endeavour, the Nicky Henderson-trained horse was pulled up in the same race at Carlisle although there was a win as favourite in a handicap chase at Leicester.
