2023 Camden Pale Handicap Tips
Royal Dress is one of several lively chances that trainer Richard Hannon has at the Chester meeting this week and it would be apt if a horse by that name was able to oblige after the crowning of Prince Charles. The horse stands a decent chance based on his latest performance which saw the runner oblige over six furlongs on soft ground at Doncaster Racecourse.
Sent off at evens that day, the horse was able to achieve a success by nearly three lengths although there are lots of other runners in with a chance and that includes California Gem. The three-year-old is carrying more weight than the favourite and George Boughey will hope that doesn’t have too much of an effect depending on how the ground comes up.
The horse finished third in the recent Bradford Handicap at Pontefract racecourse, with Wen Moon and Hour By Hour finishing ahead of this charge, although there was a spate of encounters as a two-year-old which saw his mark steadily rising and much depends on whether that is prohibitive in a competitive field at Chester.
Lakota Blue landed a victory last time out and this was at Ripon as recently as 29 April, with the horse having won at Redcar and Carlisle last season. There could be merit in backing the runner from an each-way perspective although there are plenty of others in with a chance and that includes Tasever and Kessaar Power.
