2025 Flying Five Stakes Betting Odds at Curragh racecourse

Sunday, 14 September 2025

This five furlong dash is scheduled to take place at 3.15pm on Sunday 14 September. Asfoora has earned a couple of victories this term although has also missed out three times. Time For Sandals is a younger adversary but has just one win to his name in five outings. Perhaps Big Mojo is worthy of consideration after a bright victory last time out.

Aidan O’Brien will hope for big things from Whistlejacket, with Washington Heights also going at a similar price. At the older end of the scale, Art Power is an eight-year-old who might have needed a seasonal debut last time out when finishing fourth. We also like Buccanero Fuerte who has racked up consecutive victories.

Asfoora is a seven-year-old bidding for a third victory of the season. This might come in the Flying Five Stakes and there was a triumph for the Henry Dwyer-trained charge last time out. The horse was an impressive winner at York on 22 August, with the 11/1 poke landing the spoils in the Nunthorpe Stakes.

That was a Group One success, with that coming after finishing seventh in the Qatar Stakes at Goodwood. There was also a fifth-placed finish at the Royal Ascot meeting when performing well in the King Charles III Stakes. However, there are lots of other viable contenders and that includes Time For Sandals.

Harry Eustace trains a three-year-old who could be open to plenty of improvement. The horse was last seen finishing seventh in the Betfair Sprint Cup. That was a solid effort in a Group One encounter, with that coming after beating Asfoora in the King George Qatar Stakes. There was also a surprise win at odds of 25/1 in the Commonwealth Cup.

Big Mojo can’t be easily discounted, with Michael Appleby saddling a horse who has won twice this season. This includes a success at Haydock when sent off at 16/1 in the Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes. It was a return to form for a horse who underwhelmed as the 11/4 favourite in the King George Qatar Stakes, with Whistlejacket another interesting runner.

Highfield Princess sets the benchmark when it comes to the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Flying Five Stakes, with the horse recently finishing second in the Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes when beaten by Live In The Dream. That came after the same runner was sent off as the 4/9 favourite to win the King George Qatar Sussex Stakes before duly obliging.

However, Highfield Princess did fail to win the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at odds of 11/4 and some punters will feel as though they don’t want to trust a horse who finished second to Bradsell in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, with the latter lining up for this contest at bigger betting odds and perhaps he’s better value.

Archie Watson’s three-year-old finished three quarters of a length behind Highfield Princess in their most recent clash at York, with the younger pretender potentially needing the run after a lay-off of 66 days, while Art Power has clocked up a couple of wins for trainer Tim Easterby this season and also has to be respected.

Most recently, there was a fifth-placed finish in the competitive Arc Prix Maurice de Gheest, with that coming after a victory in the Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh on 22 July. It was an impressive showing which saw the horse claim a victory by over four lengths, with the runner having three lengths to find on Shaquille after the July Cup Stakes.
