Vincent OBrien National Stakes 2026 Betting Odds

Sunday 13 September 2026 · Curragh · By Matthew Glazier · Last updated

We’ve got a quality Group One encounter in the form of the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes on Sunday. The Curragh hosts a showdown over seven furlongs and Monogram is the bookies’ favourite although we’re reluctant to get involved with a horse that has only run once, especially at a short price. There are lots of other viable contenders.

Giant Sequoia has scored for Aidan O’Brien on the previous two occasions, although the horse we really like is Dr Rascal. Three straight wins have occurred for the Oliver Cole-trained runner and there’s also Haffner at a similar price. There’s then a big jump up to the rest of the field, with Folsom Blues having hit the frame on each run.

Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes Betting Tips

The bookies have installed Monogram as the favourite to win the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes despite only running once. Joseph O’Brien’s two-year-old was able to win at the Curragh towards the end of August when seeing off fifteen other runners. The 4/6 favourite got up by a short head over seven furlongs although the runner is still inexperienced.

Dr Rascal fits the bill and we’re happy to side with this runner. Oliver Cole’s charge claimed the spoils at Leicester when scoring at 11/1 back in June, with a smart effort coming at Ascot to secure another victory. In a seven furlong novice stakes, the horse was able to land a two-length margin and this was followed by another flashy showing at Goodwood.

Six horses lined up at this Sussex track and the two-year-old was able to get up by half a length ahead of Haffner. That came in the Group Two Coral Vintage Stakes, with the runner showing a fast turn of pace to get the job done. However, there are other viable contenders and that includes Giant Sequoia who runs for Aidan O’Brien.

The handler will hope for his horse to land a third successive win, with all his efforts coming at the Curragh. At the end of June, there was a maiden victory and there was a convincing effort in the Futurity Stakes at the same track. Over seven furlongs, the 2/1 favourite got the job done and it’s easy to see why the horse is operating as one of the favourites.
