2023 Juvenile Fillies Tips
Tamara hasn’t put a hoof wrong during her fledgling career, with the American horse looking to secure a third consecutive victory on home soil. Prior to this Santa Anita race, there were successive wins at Del Mar Racecourse, with the first of these coming in a Maiden Special Weight encounter against two other runners.
Following on from this came a win in the FanDuel Racing Del Mar Debutante Stakes, with this coming over seven furlongs. Having been sent off as the 13/10 favourite, the Richard E Mandella-trained two-year-old was able to win by an eye-catching seven lengths. Mike E Smith is likely to be on board once again and she looks the one to beat.
Candied has also recorded back to back victories and the first of these came in a Maiden Special Weight where the horse was able to edge out her opponents by just under a length over six furlongs. Then came a win in the Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland in early October, with that coming over one mile, half a furlong.
In second place on that occasion was V V’s Dream and the horse will now be bidding to frank the form this time around. Kenneth McPeek’s runner was sent off as the 6/4 favourite for that encounter and that came after a win in the Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs where the filly was able to oblige by nearly nine lengths.
2022 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Tips
Wonder Wheel has already secured a couple of notable victories this year. The debut outing saw the two-year-old triumph in the Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs on 4 July, although that was only a three-runner race. However, the filly was beaten as favourite in the Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga before returning to the winners’ enclosure at Keeneland.
There was plenty to like about the way in which the horse set about her business in the Darley Alcibiades Stakes and the Mark Casse-trained runner obliged as favourite when beating thirteen other two-year-old fillies. It was noticeable that Wonder Wheel only just managed to hold on on that occasion.
As for Chocolate Gelato, we have seen a win at Saratoga and Belmont Park this season. Todd Pletcher trains a talented two-year-old that won a Maiden Special Weight before heading to the Frizette Stakes and claiming a Group 1 success. Over one mile on sloppy ground, it certainly set a marker for the Breeders’ Cup.
Peter Miller is the trainer of And Tell Me Nolies and this horse hasn’t put a hoof wrong as a two-year-old, earning her place as one of the favourites for the Juvenile Fillies’ race. A victory in the Chandelier Stakes was impressive on a dirt track at Santa Anita, with favourite Justique beaten on that occasion and it’s going to be one hell of a race.
