2023 Northern Dancer Handicap Betting Odds at Epsom Downs racecourse

Saturday, 03 June 2023

This race is a Rio Ferdinand Foundation-sponsored Northern Dancer Handicap where there are lots of horses in with a lively chance of recording a success. There are several horses that have experienced a victory in their previous outing and that includes Scampi who runs for trainer Andrew Balding, with the five-year-old a backable each-way price.

Caius Chorister could go well and the four-year-old was a runner-up in his previous encounter, while Cumulonimbus should have a chance based on previous exploits. Sea King will make a quick return to the track at Epsom, with Max Mayhem another horse who was previously successful on the last outing.

2023 Northern Dancer Handicap Betting Tips

Hayley Turner will be on board Scampi for this Rio Ferdinand Foundation Northern Dancer Handicap, with the five-year-old standing a reasonable chance of success on Derby day. The horse has lots of experience and that includes a recent victory in the Jorvik Handicap at York on 17 May, where the runner was able to beat a big field over one mile and four furlongs.

The horse also has Epsom experience by virtue of finishing fifth in a handicap race over one mile and two furlongs. Caius Chorister is another horse who has experience of running at this course, with the David Menuisier-trained runner having finished second in a handicap race a month ago and has to have each-way claims based on that performance.

Cumulonimbus is also a potential winner of this race and Charlie Fellowes saw his charge secure a victory in the previous encounter. The four-year-old was a winner of a handicap race at Newmarket over one mile and four furlongs. However, Sea King can’t be easily ruled out, with Sir Mark Prescott seeing his charge finishing second at Kempton in late May.

Max Mayhem is a five-year-old who has each-way claims, with Kevin Philippart De Foy expecting big things from a horse that won the Rosebery Handicap over one mile and three furlongs. This took place on 10 April, with Aimeric going for Roger Varian and there’s been a lengthy absence since flattering to deceive at York.
