Glorious Stakes 2026 Betting Odds
The Coral Glorious Stakes is the second race on Saturday’s Goodwood card and we’re intrigued by the way that the betting market is shaping up. Al Aasy is a seasoned campaigner with some notable victories during a long and illustrious career. It’s hardly a surprise why the bookies have installed the nine-year-old as a strong favourite.

Opportunity could be a young contender to topple the favourite. The season opened with a third-placed effort before successive wins for the four-year-old. William Haggas trains both of the market leaders and it will be interesting to see the handler’s view ahead of the action. Ghostwriter and King’s Gambit could also go well in this encounter.

Opportunity has come on leaps and bounds in the past few showings. In May, there was a third-placed finish out of fourteen at Ascot, with that coming in a competitive handicap. Then came a success in the Betway Handicap at Carlisle, with the horse a comfortable winner over a mile and three furlongs to land a victory by over two lengths.
Then came the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot. Over a mile and four furlongs, the horse got the bit between his teeth and was able to keep on well to see off Warrant Holder. At the age of four, William Haggas’ charge could be open to significant improvement compared to stablemate Al Aasy who is the favourite to win the race.
Tom Marquand is on board the latter, with the horse having produced a strong effort at Beverley when being sent off as the 4/9 favourite. That came after an April runner-up performance in the Group 3 Surprise Stakes. The runner was only half a length off the pace on that occasion and there have previously been wins in graded company.
Ghostwriter runs for Kevin Philippart De Foy, with the horse finishing well down the order at Royal Ascot when running in the Wolferton Stakes. The runner ran out of steam in a one mile, two furlong showdown, with that being a concern for a longer trip. King’s Gambit has run four times and the five-year-old could be interesting from an each-way point-of-view.
