2025 Dick Hern Stakes Betting Odds at Haydock Park racecourse

Saturday, 09 August 2025

There are a couple of promising three-year-olds heading the betting market for the Dick Hern Stakes. Celestial Orbit runs for Ollie Sangster, with the horse having run a couple of times already this season. Never Let Go has strong claims, with Ed Walker seeing his charge land the spoils last time out, with Shuwari another Sangster-trained runner with solid claims.

Fair Point was second on the all-weather last term, with Protest having landed the spoils on a previous showing. Sparks Fly and Stop The Cavalry are also trading at single figure betting odds, with many of the runners capable of hitting the frame. This looks like a great each-way betting race and it’s an exciting heat to place wagers on.

2025 Dick Hern Stakes Betting Tips

Celestial Orbit was disappointing at Longchamp in her last race although the bookmakers still think it’s the most likely winner of the Dick Hern Stakes. Running at odds of 20/1, the three-year-old was unable to make an impression in the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches although that was a competitive Group One encounter.

Previously to that, there had been a very solid showing at Newmarket in mid-April. In the Nell Gwyn Stakes, Celestial Orbit finished second over seven lengths and could be the one to beat. Never Let Go is another interesting contender. Ed Walker has seen his horse perform well this season and that included landing the spoils at Royal Ascot.

The horse was sent off at odds of 22/1 in the Sandringham Stakes before securing a one-length success over a mile, with this coming after a third-placed finish at Goodwood in a previous showing. That came in a listed race after finishing second in the Pertemps Network Handicap. This runner has the chance to feature in the frame based on previous showings.

Protest also catches the eye and there was a victory at Goodwood at the end of July which was pretty striking. The horse was sent off at odds of 11/2 when obliging in the Ridgeview Fillies’ Handicap, with Shuwari and Fair Point the most likely four-year-olds to land a victory. We anticipate a highly competitive encounter based on the odds.
