Mares Handicap Hurdle Results at Kempton Park — 27 December 2025

Saturday, 27 December 2025

West Balboa has yet to win this season, although the eight-year-old is currently trading as the betting favourite to land a victory in the Mares' Handicap Hurdle. Perhaps she will be able to score at Kempton Park on 27 December, with Della Casa Lunga next in the market and she is also bidding for a first success of the campaign.

Larchmont Lass has a success to her name this term before finishing third last time out, with Paul Nicholls saddling a mare who might not be far away, with Pawapuri running for Nicky Henderson. The five-year-old was third on her seasonal debut and could rate as a decent each-way proposition to land the spoils here.

2024 Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Tips

The bookies think that West Balboa is the horse to beat in this Kempton Park encounter on 27 December and that’s despite the runner having failed to win on three appearances this season. The eight-year-old was a disappointing third out of four runners at Doncaster in mid-December and surely needs to produce an improvement here.

Indeed, the previous two outings at Bangor on Dee and Worcester were also disappointing although punters will point to a smart performance at Aintree back in April. Even so, punters might be looking for alternatives and Della Casa Lunga has looked promising this term, with the six-year-old performing well at Kempton Park when finishing second out of five.

Larchmont Lass was solid enough in a recent performance at Sandown Park in early December, with the horse able to land third place out of eight runners when finishing thirteen lengths off the pace. However, there was plenty to like about a display at Wincanton where the runner was able to register a victory.

Pawapuri was able to claim third place of her own on her seasonal debut and Nicky Henderson will hope that there’s more to come from a horse who was second out of twelve runners at Salisbury back in May. Twelve months ago is where the runner enjoyed her purple patch when registering consecutive victories.
