2023 Liffey Handicap Hurdle Chase Tips
Gaelic Warrior has enjoyed back-to-back wins this season and the five-year-old looks to have huge potential based on his performances so far. The horse lined up as the betting favourite for the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March and came close to obliging only to be beaten by Brazil, with the horse now taking his chances at Leopardstown.
There have since been victories at Tramore and Clonmel, although we didn’t learn a huge amount due to the horse being sent off as massive favourite. The former win in early December came by an incredible eighty-six lengths, while the horse was able to triumph by fifteen lengths when sent off as a 1/14 favourite in the Munster Hurdle at Clonmel last month.
However, JP McManus owns an enormous number of horses and he has several lining up in this encounter. The one main contender is Icare Allen who is trained by Willie Mullins and he was third last time out. That was in a seventeen-runner race where the charge found two horses too good for him although this was a competitive handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse.
Filey Bay has banked consecutive wins and there was lots to like about the victory in early December, with the horse obliging as the 8/13 favourite and he was able to claim a one-length win after claiming a win at Doncaster towards the end of November. Comfort Zone is also capable of running a big race and the win at Cheltenham in a Triumph Hurdle Trial was impressive.
