2024 Liffey Handicap Hurdle Betting Odds at Leopardstown racecourse

Sunday, 04 February 2024

Gaelic Warrior has enjoyed an impressive career so far this season, with the five-year-old looking like a value bet to win the Liffey Handicap Hurdle. The horse will be carrying 11-10 and will line up as the highest-rated horse in the field, although it only takes one runner to beat him. Perhaps that will come in the form of the JP McManus-owned Icare Allen.

That runner is also trained by Willie Mullins and there are lots of other McManus-owned runners who look set to be prominent in the betting market. Make sure you compare the latest odds and watch out for the market movers. Joseph O’Brien has a couple of interesting runners in the form of Comfort Zone and Common Practice.

2023 Liffey Handicap Hurdle Chase Tips

Gaelic Warrior has enjoyed back-to-back wins this season and the five-year-old looks to have huge potential based on his performances so far. The horse lined up as the betting favourite for the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March and came close to obliging only to be beaten by Brazil, with the horse now taking his chances at Leopardstown.

There have since been victories at Tramore and Clonmel, although we didn’t learn a huge amount due to the horse being sent off as massive favourite. The former win in early December came by an incredible eighty-six lengths, while the horse was able to triumph by fifteen lengths when sent off as a 1/14 favourite in the Munster Hurdle at Clonmel last month.

However, JP McManus owns an enormous number of horses and he has several lining up in this encounter. The one main contender is Icare Allen who is trained by Willie Mullins and he was third last time out. That was in a seventeen-runner race where the charge found two horses too good for him although this was a competitive handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Filey Bay has banked consecutive wins and there was lots to like about the victory in early December, with the horse obliging as the 8/13 favourite and he was able to claim a one-length win after claiming a win at Doncaster towards the end of November. Comfort Zone is also capable of running a big race and the win at Cheltenham in a Triumph Hurdle Trial was impressive.
