2023 Matron Stakes Betting Odds at Leopardstown racecourse

Homeless Songs actually began the 2022 season with a victory at Leopardstown and perhaps this is where the calendar story ends. Chris Hayes rode the filly to a win in the 1,000 Guineas Trial when being sent off as a 6/1 shot, with the horse then beating favourite Tuesday when obliging in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

That win took place at The Curragh and the three-year-old will now run against Inspiral. John Gosden’s runner has achieved a number of wins along the way during a memorable career to date, with this Cheveley Park Stud horse having also shortened in price.

Homeless Songs didn’t look like a Group 1 contender last autumn. The horse was sent off as a 9/4 shot in the Moyglare Stud Stakes before a fifth-placed finish over one furlong and she was given another chance by the punters when being backed as the 6/4 favourite only to finish sixth in a Group 3 encounter at Leopardstown.

However, the horse returned to the same Irish racecourse after a break of half a year and there was a one-length win at the beginning of April over seven furlongs on good ground. The win in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas was all the more impressive when obliging by five-and-a-half lengths.

Inspiral has two wins and one runner-up spot after a big break and the three-year-old was able to get home as a 15/8 favourite in the 2022 Coronation Stakes. There was lots to be impressed about her turn of foot, with the horse then chinned in the Falmouth Stakes as a 1/7 favourite.

There was a stunning win in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois where Frankie Dettori ensured that the horse was kept on well. Other horses that need to be respected include Saffron Beach and Jane Chapple-Hyam will have the four-year-old well schooled for this challenge.
