2024 Frodon Novices Limited Handicap Chase Betting Odds at Musselburgh racecourse

There’s a strong racecard at Musselburgh Racecourse on Saturday, with the runners and riders lining up in the Frodon Novices' Limited Handicap Chase. There could be as many as twelve horses on the start line, with Giovinco currently set to go off as favourite and the Lucinda Russell-trained charge has been in the winners’ enclosure this season.

However, Monmiral could appeal more at a bigger price, despite a seventh-placed finish on his seasonal reappearance. General Officer and Marble Sands are available at backable odds from an each-way perspective, with Jackpot de Choisel and Outlaw Peter also trading at single figure prices and it should be an enthralling encounter.

2024 Frodon Novices' Limited Handicap Chase Tips

Giovinco has only won one of his four outings this season although that hasn’t stopped the bookmakers from installing this horse as favourite to win the Frodon Novices' Limited Handicap Chase. The seven-year-old was pulled up at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, although there had previously been a handicap chase win at Aintree Racecourse in November.

Monmiral runs for trainer Paul Nicholls and this horse should be capable of a decent showing, with the runner having finished seventh in a handicap chase at Cheltenham on 16 December. Much depends on whether this charge will benefit from wind surgery, having previously been impressive as a juvenile.

General Officer hasn’t been out of the first two in four outings this season, with the seven-year-old lining up for Donald McCain and this could be the best each-way bet of the race. We saw a second-placed finish behind Tahmuras at Aintree on Boxing Day, with this coming after a fifteen-length triumph at Doncaster at the beginning of December.

Like Giovinco, Marble Sands was pulled up and that came after finishing fourth out of six runners in a novices’ chase at Newbury, with a question mark over the horse’s stamina. Jackpot de Choisel could be a better option and it’s encouraging to have seen the runner fend off five opponents to claim a slender victory at Musselburgh just a few weeks ago.
