2025 Autumn Cup Handicap Betting Odds at Newbury racecourse

Saturday, 20 September 2025

There are a maximum of nineteen horses lining up in the Dubai Duty Free Autumn Cup Handicap, with many of them in with a viable chance of landing a victory. Several of the runners are trading at single figure odds including Dramatic Star. William Haggas trains several horses in the field and that also includes Castle Cove and Klassleader.

James Tate will hope for a bold run from Majestic Warrior, with the horse having notched a handful of wins in the past few appearances. Beylerbeyi has also been prolific when it comes to featuring in the winners’ enclosure, with Stressfree more than capable of hitting the frame for trainer David O’Meara.

Dramatic Star was last seen finishing second and it was a decent effort at Haydock Park in a field of fifteen runners. Sent off as a 7/1 shot, the four-year-old didn’t do a lot in the Old Borough Cup Handicap and was only edged out by a neck. That was over one mile and six furlongs, with the horse having previously run solidly at Ascot when finishing midfield.

Majestic Warrior is a slightly older adversary who was seventh in a field of twenty-two runners last time out. That effort came at York where the 9/1 chance was able to finish seventh in the Ebor Handicap. There was previously a victory at Thirsk where the 2/1 favourite was able to win by a considerable distance to land the spoils.

Beylerbeyi is another five-year-old with solid credentials. There were three consecutive wins earlier this season when scoring at Chepstow, Newmarket and York. Those victories were all over one mile and four furlongs, with a more recent effort at Doncaster seeing the horse finishing runner-up in the Mallard Handicap over a further distance.

Castle Cove is another Haggas-trained runner who has to be respected. At the end of August, the charge performed reasonably well at Sandown Park when finishing fourth out of twelve horses. That came after proving slightly underwhelming as the favourite in the Coral Chesterfield Cup Handicap, with the 7/2 shot only able to manage sixth place.

Post Impressionist can certainly play his part in this race, with William Haggas potentially having a day to remember at Newbury on Saturday. The horse was able to beat thirteen competitors when running last time out, with the four-year-old able to claim a victory over one mile and six furlongs, with Tom Marquand steering him to success.

Previously to this, there was a gutsy run in the Ebor Handicap when being sent off at 40/1 before managing to finish ninth and beat some other quality runners. The horse was slightly underwhelming in the Shergar Cup Stayers and we think this is probably the most likely winner of a race which has several other lively contenders.

Tenerife Sunshine features near the bottom of the Newbury racecard, although the three-year-old could well benefit from a weight allowance and the horse was on song last time out. On the Kempton all-weather, there was a victory at the end of August when obliging over one mile and three furlongs, with more to come from this runner.

Fox Journey is another three-year-old set to line up here, with the horse able to finish third out of thirteen runners in the Sky Bet Melrose Handicap at York Racecourse on 26 August. Sir Michael Stoute trains a horse who was also able to run into the places at Goodwood Racecourse in the Coral Handicap over one mile and four furlongs.
