2025 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Betting Odds at Newmarket racecourse

Friday, 11 July 2025

There are twelve runners set to go to post in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, with this being a six furlong encounter being a Group 2 race. Venetian Sun has racked up a couple of victories and looks like the filly to beat. The Karl Burke-trained charge is trading as a relatively short-priced favourite, although there are others to consider.

Composing was able to triumph last time out. Aidan O’Brien’s runner looks like a decent each-way runner, with Flowerhead also capable of hitting the places after some solid efforts. Midnight Tango runs for Ed Walker and could benefit from a recent outing at the track, with Shine On Me and Spicy Marg available at similar prices.

Venetian Sun has been foot perfect in her career so far this season. She made her debut at Carlisle in the middle of May and it was no surprise to see her beat six other runners. The short-priced favourite then went to the Royal Ascot meeting and produced another fine effort to oblige in the Albany Stakes at odds of 7/1.

That particular victory was by one and a half lengths when seeing off 66/1 outsider Awaken, with Composing the filly that could be the one to edge out the market leader. Aidan O’Brien saw the horse produce a foot-perfect performance at the Curragh when obliging at the end of June. That display came in a maiden race over seven furlongs at odds of 3/1.

Flowerhead was a massive 100/1 when lining up in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. However, the filly made a mockery of those odds when finishing second behind favourite True Love, with Charlie Clover’s horse now one of the favourites for the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes. Perhaps she can go one better in this encounter.

That came after a success at Chepstow, with Midnight Tango returning to Newmarket just a couple of weeks after a runner-up showing. That was in the Empress Fillies’ Stakes, with the horse narrowly missing out on a victory when losing to Argentine Tango. There was previously a success at Hamilton and there could be more to come.

The horse racing betting sites are sure to have plenty of price boosts available for the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, with this race taking place on Friday 12 July. Heavens Gate is a highly-rated filly who was last seen running at Royal Ascot where the horse finished third out of sixteen runners in the Albany Stakes. There had previously been a win at the Curragh.

Mountain Breeze has landed two wins for Charlie Appleby and she looks to be on the right track, with the two-year-old finishing fourth in the Albany Stakes after previously securing a brace of victories at Newmarket. She opened her career with a win in a five furlong novice stakes before winning over a longer distance a couple of weeks later.

Mighty Eriu has finished second twice for Gavin Cromwell, with the latest of these performances coming at Ascot when outrunning her 50/1 odds in the Queen Mary Stakes. That was an impressive showing in the Group 2 encounter, with more to come from a runner who previously produced the goods over six furlongs at the Curragh.

Celandine returns to Newmarket after previously triumphing there at the end of June, with the horse getting up to win a listed race at the end of June. Ed Walker trains a runner who was previously successful at Windsor when fending off ten other rivals, with Maw Lam another potential runner for the shortlist and she finished third in the Queen Mary Stakes.

Star Of Mystery has been answering all the questions in recent races and the two-year-old was recently successful at Newmarket at the beginning of the month. She was able to score in the Memorial Empress Fillies’ Stakes as the 4/5 favourite and could be sent off at a similar price here, with the horse able to win by a distance of four furlongs on that occasion.

Having scooped a previous victory at Haydock Park when winning the Broad Oak Fillies’ Novice Stakes by eleven lengths, it’s easy to see why the bookies want to keep her onside. However, some could argue that Soprano is a more backable price and George Boughey’s horse finished third in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Over six furlongs, the horse was able to put in a decent showing and will this time have Ryan Moore on board, with the runner landing a previous victory at Newmarket in early May. Dazzling Star also comes into the encounter off the back of a win when obliging at this very track on 30 June to score in a maiden fillies’ stakes over six furlongs.

Persian Dreamer also has to be respected and outran her betting odds in the Albany Stakes to land a victory at odds of 20/1, with Pretty Crystal having won once this season. Got To Love A Grey has been successful on two occasions and recently finished fifth in the Queen Mary Stakes over a sharp five furlongs which could be a good marker here.
