2023 Empress Fillies Stakes Betting Odds at Newmarket racecourse

Saturday, 01 July 2023

There are eighteen runners going to post for the 2023 Empress Fillies' Stakes, with many talented mares look to land a victory in the first of seven races on the racecard. Charlie Appleby will saddle a two-year-old who comes into the encounter off the back of a victory, although the same can be said of several other runners in the field.

Indispensable has seemingly improved with every run and the William Haggas-trained runner could be a good each-way selection for this six-furlong tussle, with What A Question more lightly-raced although there could be more to come from this Charlie Johnston-trained charge, while Point Of Attack and Denruth Diamond are other potential contenders.

2023 Empress Fillies' Stakes Tips

This an exciting race for two-year-old fillies and Star Of Mystery comes into this race at Newmarket after securing a victory at Haydock in the middle of June. It came as no surprise to see the horse win considering she was sent off at 1/3 in the Broad Oak Fillies’ Novice Stakes after previously performing well in a Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Doncaster.

Naturally, all of the runners are relatively short of experience and that includes Indispensable who was in the winners’ enclosure last time out. The William Haggas-trained runner is fresh from winning the William Hill Ripon Champion Bonus 2023 Maiden Fillies' Stakes, although she was previously beaten as favourite at Goodwood at the end of May.

What A Question went one better at Goodwood Racecourse when winning a Maiden Fillies’ Stakes in the middle of June, with the Charlie Johnston-trained charge having won the race by nearly five lengths when being sent off at odds of 10/30, with James Doyle on board a runner who is being respected by the betting sites and could be a good each-way shout.

Point Of Attack has run once and finished second for trainer John Gosden, with Denruth Diamond having run twice at Windsor before heading to Saint-Cloud and being the smart winner of the Prix de la Rablais which was a conditions race over six and a half furlongs. Neverstopdreaming and Rush Queen are two other contenders worth a second look.
