Palace House Stakes Results at Newmarket — 02 May 2026

Saturday, 02 May 2026

There's a five furlong dash taking place at Newmarket Racecourse on Saturday in the form of the Palace House Stakes. There are fourteen runners lining up, with Asfoora a seven-year-old who could prove too strong for the rest of the field. There have been two wins across the previous three races and Lemos De Souza will be anticipating another victory.

Rumstar, Frost At Dawn and Night Raider also return to the track after competing 209 days previously, with Quinault having enjoyed three outings this term. The six-year-old has ran encouragingly. Jm Jungle is another six-year-old who could be a good each-way contender, with Beckford's Folly a three-year-old with scope for improvement.

2026 Palace House Stakes Betting Tips

Asfoora could be the class act in the Palace House Stakes, with Lemos De Souza training a runner who was last seen winning at Longchamp in October. The 13/5 favourite scored in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines over five furlongs on very soft ground. That came after a September performance when finishing seventh out of fifteen at the Curragh.

Rumstar has been shortening in the market and much depends on whether the horse can bounce back from a disappointing effort in the above Longchamp heat. Perhaps the Jonathan Portman-trained runner didn't cope well with the heavy conditions, with more encouraging displays at York and Newbury being registered.

Frost At Dawn is trained by William Knight and was tenth in the above Longchamp race. However, the horse only finished one and a half lengths behind Asfoora at York in the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes. There was also a smart performance at Goodwood Racecourse and we should bear in mind that a second-placed effort came in the King Charles II Stakes at Royal Ascot.

We like the look of Quinault from an each-way perspective. Stuart Williams saddles a horse who has landed three decent efforts already this season. The latest of these came at Newmarket where a third-placed finish was notched over six furlongs. It came after a February victory at Doha and he could hit the frame once again.

2025 Palace House Stakes Betting Tips

Beautiful Diamond runs for Karl Burke in the Palace House Stakes, with the horse last seen at Ascot in October. The runner finished second out of six runners, with this coming after landing eighth out of eighteen horses at The Curragh. There was also a victory at Ayr back in June where the 10/11 favourite was able to oblige with a success.

No Half Measures could also go well for Richard Hughes, with the horse carrying three pounds more than Beautiful Diamond. Ryan Moore is on board a runner who was last seen finishing fifth out of sixteen horses at Longchamp. That was in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines on heavy ground and perhaps the runner can benefit more from faster ground.

Twilight Calls is an older adversary and Richard Spencer saddles a horse who could merit an each-way bet. The horse was able to finish fourth out of eight runners at York back in September, with this coming after a midfield finish at Newbury. The runner has plenty of experience but it’s been a long time since we saw a success for the horse.

Clarendon House has the potential to go well for Robert Cowell and this is another experienced seven-year-old. There was a success on the all-weather at Southwell, with that being a half length victory in the Sprint Stakes where the fancied Marshman was beaten into second. A repeat performance could be on the cards here.

2024 Palace House Tips

There are six runners who are currently trading at single figure betting odds for the William Hill Palace House Stakes, with Beautiful Diamond potentially the one to beat when it comes to this Newmarket encounter. The three-year-old was successful at Ayr back in September when obliging as the 5/6 favourite in a listed race.

Previously to this, there was a midfield performance in the Sky Bet Lowther Stakes where the filly put in an accomplished display over six furlongs, with the horse running well in the Queen Mary Stakes at last year’s Royal Ascot meeting when finishing third in a Group 2 encounter over five furlongs which was won by Crimson Advocate.

Equality goes for Charles Hills and the six-year-old was able to win at Musselburgh back in April when beating fourteen other runners. Over five furlongs, there was plenty to like about that performance and there’s also a chance for Mitbaahy who looks to be a talented five-year-old based on showings to date and Jamie Spencer is on board.

Last time out, the horse finished fourth out of fourteen runners in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket, with this coming over six furlongs. There was a win at Chester back in August although there’s not much in the betting for several of the horses and this includes Twilight Calls and Kerdos, with Vadream also a potential contender.
