2024 Saudi Cup Betting Odds at Riyadh racecourse

Saturday, 24 February 2024

The 2023 Saudi Cup is a huge race when it comes to the international horse racing calendar, with some of the fastest horses in the world descending on the King Abdulaziz Racetrack to compete over 1,800 metres. There’s an enormous prize purse which means the winner walks away with $10,000,000 and the race taking place four weeks after the Pegasus World Cup.

Indeed, the Saudi Cup is sandwiched between that race and the Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse, with four-year-olds having dominated this encounter so far. Will Taiba be able to secure a victory for legendary American trainer Bob Baffert who saw his charge claim a win at Santa Anita last time out, with all roads now leading to Dubai.

2023 Saudi Cup Betting Tips

Taiba could the horse that they all have to beat in the world’s richest race, with the four-year-old set to go off as the betting favourite with the top racing bookmakers when it comes to the Saudi Cup. The four-year-old won the Malibu Stakes when sent off as the 2/5 favourite and the manner of the victory suggests that there is more to come from a horse that won by a comfortable margin.

Taiba also ran in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland Race Track on 5 November, although the horse was no match for the odds-on favourite, with Flightline triumphing by a considerable distance. However, it’s worth noting that the former had difficulty leaving the stalls and actually did well to hit the frame by the end of the race.

County Grammer is another interesting runner and this was also a successful winner at Santa Anita on the Boxing Day card. Frankie Dettori was actually on board the horse on that occasion, with Bob Baffert saddling a runner who was able to oblige as the odds-on favourite in the San Antonio Stakes and the distance was four and a half lengths.

The horse was sent off as a 14/1 outsider in the Saudi Cup twelve months ago and produced an excellent performance. Indeed, connections couldn’t believe their eyes when witnessing 50/1 rag Emblem Road triumphing by half a length, although perhaps the horse can go one better this time around. It is noticeable how many runner-up spots he has had though.
