2023 Coral Distaff Betting Odds at Sandown Park racecourse

Saturday, 08 July 2023

John & Thady Gosden’s best chance of landing a winner at Sandown Park on Saturday is probably in the form of Coppice, with the three-year-old scoring back to back wins to set up a potential hat-trick victory in this listed race over one mile. The horse is the joint-highest rated runner in the field and Ryan Moore is on board this runner.

However, we could get an entertaining race if Silver Lady is able to perform to the best of her ability, with William Buick on board a runner who won her penultimate race before finishing third in her latest outing, while Breege runs for trainer John Quinn and there could be more to come from Stenton Glider who is the other horse at single figures.

The bookmakers are taking no chances with their quote about Coppice winning this encounter, with the three-year-old having been in impressive form this season. Last time out, the runner was steered to victory by Frankie Dettori in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot as the 6/1 joint-favourite. Perhaps we’ll see a similar performance here.

The winning feeling started in a Novice Stakes at Newcastle when a facile victory was achieved on the all-weather, although that one length win at Ascot really was laying down a marker, with Breege finishing second on that occasion and perhaps the horse is primed to run another strong race at Sandown Park this weekend.

Silver Lady runs in the Godolphin colours and has been shown plenty of respect, with Charlie Appleby seeing his runner finishing third in the Oaks Farm Stable Fillies’ Stakes when being sent off as the 2/1 favourite although it was a close encounter over one mile. This came after a winner in the Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket.

Breege could come on leaps and bounds, with only one length separating the horse from Coppice in that previous race. Let’s not forget that the horse ran a credible race when finishing seventh in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and the runner was sent off at 50/1 on that occasion after some bright form at Longchamp at October.
