2026 Unibet Mares Hurdle Betting Odds at Sandown Park racecourse

Saturday, 03 January 2026

The Unibet Mares' Hurdle takes place on Saturday 3 January, with eight runners set to battle it out over two miles and four furlongs. Jubilee Alpha could be a difficult horse to beat, although the filly has not yet tasted success this term. Perhaps she'll come to the fore at Sandown Park, although some might want to opt for Nurse Susan at a bigger price.

Dan Skelton's nine-year-old has been in good nick recently, with Della Casa Lunga also one of the horses who can wind up in the winners enclosure. The eight-year-old does appear to be short of victories and perhaps a better each-way alternative is That'll Do Moss considering the Fergal O'Brien-trained runner was in the places a lot last term.

2026 Unibet Mares' Hurdle Betting Tips

Jubilee Alpha has been installed as the short-priced favourite to win the Unibet Mares' Hurdle, although some might question why the Paul Nicholls-trained charge is available at such short odds. After all, the horse finished fifth last time out in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham, although it's worth noting that the mare was carrying considerably more weight than the other runners.

Nurse Susan was the winner on that occasion, with a big improvement in form in evidence. She was a stone better off than the above runner and this was a marked step up from an early November effort at Carlisle. However, it remains to be seen whether the horse can maintain this sort of level and she will only have two pounds in hand this time around.

That'll Do Moss was able to finish fourth on her seasonal debut, with Fergal O'Brien training a charge who was somewhat off the pace at Kempton Park. Back in April, there was a hugely impressive spin when the horse was able to finish second as a 50/1 chance. On soft to heavy ground, there was only two lengths separating the charge from Aurora Vega.

Della Casa Lunga is trained by the lesser-known Clive Boultbee-Brooks, with the eight-year-old having finished fourth out of ten runners last time out. It was a solid effort over three miles, with that coming after a midfield effort at Kempton Park. However, the main concern is that it's been a long time since she was able to secure a success.
