2025 Memorial Mares Handicap Hurdle Betting Odds at Wincanton racecourse

Saturday, 08 November 2025

Jubilee Alpha is trading as the market leader for the Memorial Mares' Handicap Hurdle, with the Paul Nicholls-trained charge having secured some notable victories last term. The six-year-old has been installed as favourite, although the odds suggest a wide open encounter. It’s a stamina-sapping contest, with Listentoyourheart going for Dan Skelton.

The six-year-old was fourth on a seasonal debut, with Bethpage having earned a runner-up spot in a first race of the campaign before winning last time out. We also like the look of Lavarie who has been a winning machine in recent times. James Owen’s six-year-old will appeal to many from an each-way betting point-of-view.

2025 Memorial Mares' Handicap Hurdle Betting Tips

Jubilee Alpha is back for the National Hunt season and the Paul Nicholls-trained runner was an exciting talent last season. She was an April winner at Cheltenham, with the horse landing a victory in a mares novices’ hurdle. That came after a solid effort in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when finishing eighth.

Listentoyourheart is another six-year-old with solid claims. The horse finished fourth out of nine runners at Chepstow on a seasonal debut. That came in the Welsh Champion Hurdle, with the runner having previously appeared in the William Hill Handicap Hurdle at Aintree. However, November 2024 was the last time that the horse won a race.

Bethpage is named after the American golf course and Emma Lavelle trains a horse who was last seen performing well at Stratford. At the end of May, the runner was able to oblige in a small field over three miles, two and a half furlongs. That came after a second-placed finish at Market Rasen and there was previously a strong effort at Cheltenham.

Lavarie has collected a spate of victories in recent times. James Owen saddles a six-year-old who was pulled up at Chepstow a few weeks ago. However, there was a productive summer which saw the runner claim a success at Market Rasen in July. There was also a double success at Uttoxeter in June and that came after winning at Stratford.

2024 Memorial Mares Handicap Hurdle Tips

We’re looking forward to the Memorial Mares' Handicap Hurdle at Wincanton and there could be a big field lining up for an encounter over two miles, five and a half furlongs. There are a number of runners who are able to land a victory, with Pretending among them. She was able to secure the spoils at Uttoxeter when winning over two miles and four furlongs.

Previously to this, there was a fine performance as a favourite at Cheltenham and the horse has regularly been running into a place which suggests that Lucy Wadham trains a runner who could end up scoring again. However, Bethpage has solid credentials and the Emma Lavelle-trained runner can’t be easily ignored.

The six-year-old is carrying less weight than the favourite, with the horse finishing second out of seven runners at Ludlow Racecourse. Previously to this came a third-placed finish out of eleven horses at Worcester, with previous successes occurring at Southwell, Ludlow and Fontwell. The mare could return to the winners’ enclosure again.

Mermaids Cave has been successful throughout her career and there could be more to come from the five-year-old. James Owen trains a runner who was successful at Bangor-on-Dee when the six other runners were defeated and that came after a solid fourth place out of fourteen runners at Cartmel.

2023 Mares Handicap Hurdle Tips

Lime Avenue is going to go off as favourite when it comes to this Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, with the six-year-old returning to Wincanton Racecourse after previously obliging with a win here. That took place at the beginning of February and it was one of two victories last term considering there was a Flat race success over two miles at Chepstow back in October 2022.

Ilovethenightlife also has to be respected and was last seen finishing fifth out of eight runners in a novices’ hurdle race at Cheltenham Racecourse. That came after successive wins at Doncaster and Newbury, with the five-year-old having shown that she can perform well on soft ground over long distances along with being able to jump well.

Vicki Vale runs for trainer Dan Skelton and returns this season following some impressive performances last term, with the horse having won at Taunton Racecourse at the end of April. That was in a novices’ hurdle, with the horse previously slipping up as the 4/9 favourite at Kempton in mid-March when losing by eleven lengths.

Plenty Of Time was able to triumph last time out and that was an affair at Wincanton Racecourse, with Sabrina having landed the spoils at Ayr in her previous encounter. That was a solid showing over three miles, half a furlong. Beating favourite Great Snow by three and a half furlongs was pretty substantial and there could be more to come.
