Saturday, 20 August 2022

The final day of the 2022 Ebor Festival includes the City of York Stakes, with some of the leading trainers having lively chances to land the spoils in this race. William Haggas will have high hopes that Sacred can claim a victory and the four-year-old has been running in esteemed company recently, while Sandrine also looks a hot prospect.

Kinross will have Frankie Dettori on board and Charlie Appleby is no stranger to success in high-profile flat races and Al Suhail could be on the money, with this horse race looking like an enticing each-way heat where there are lots of horses with lively chances of winning.

2022 City of York Stakes Betting Tips

There is going to be some interesting price movements leading into this race, with the early betting suggesting that Sacred could be the one to beat. Don’t be misled by the fact that the four-year-old has recorded two fifth-placed finishes this season considering that the first of these took place at Royal Ascot in a Group One encounter.

The horse produced a solid performance when finishing fifth in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes over six furlongs and that form continued when the runner was able to run a decent race when landing the same position in the World Pool Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, with the race being won by Sandrine.

Sandrine will line up in this race and there was plenty to like about that performance on the Sussex Downs, with the three-year-old seemingly coming to the boil after falling short in his first three outings of the flat season, with the horse keeping on well over seven furlongs and will go over the same distance at the Knavesmire.

Kinross was second in that particular race and only lost by a neck, so this horse has to enter the reckoning on this occasion. He went second in the final strides of the World Pool Lennox Stakes and we should see the Ralph Beckett-trained runner prominent in the field when this race takes place on Saturday.
