There’s little to separate the first few horses in the betting market when it comes to the Knights Solicitors Handicap, with the runners and riders competing over one mile, two and a half furlongs. Botanical has regularly hit the frame during his short career and the four-year-old returns to the track for a seasonal debut.

The same applies to La Yakel and the five-year-old has delivered some impressive showings to date, with Crystal Delight running for Harry Eustace. There was a win for this horse in the last effort, while Bystander has already run four times this season and there has to be claims for the Karl Burke-trained runner.

Botanical was successful at Hamilton back in October when the 11/10 favourite obliged over one mile and one furlong last autumn. It was a satisfactory six length victory, with the horse travelling strongly before stretching clear of the opposition. Previously to this came a third-placed finish at Ascot Racecourse after finishing second out of eleven at Kempton.

La Yakel returns for a seasonal debut and the five-year-old finished second out of twelve runners at York back in October. This came after a victory at Doncaster in September when fending off four other rivals, with the runner also performing well at Ascot in July and there could be more to come from this charge.

Crystal Delight could sparkle in this race and there could be a repeat of the horse’s previous victory at Epsom in April. Sent off at odds of 5/2, there was a five and a half length victory, although that came after a disappointing showing at Newmarket. This came after a brighter performance at the same track when landing a runner-up spot.

Bystander is a Karl Burke-trained charge and the horse finished fourth out of sixteen runners last time out. In the World Pool Handicap at Newmarket, Clifford Lee rode this charge to a credible performance, while there was a victory at Lingfield Park in early March which means that the horse has to be afforded respect.

Nobel flattered to deceive last year when finishing dead last in the James Seymour Stakes on 29 October, although Andrew Balding had previously seen his horse claim the spoils at Epsom and Kempton. The former victory was in a Novice Stakes over one mile and two furlongs, with the 6/4 favourite beating Dukeman by nearly three lengths.

There could be more to come from Eeetee and the five-year-old was successful in the Giants Hall Handicap on 29 April at Haydock Park. The horse was able to oblige over one mile and two furlongs, with David O’Meara’s charge having bounced back after a couple of disappointing performances on the all-weather.

Spirit Dancer runs for Richard Fahey, with the six-year-old having the advantage of running three times at York already. The horse finished second in the Sky Bet Finale Handicap over one mile, two and a half furlongs, while there was previously a victory in the Gallop Racing Handicap where the runner was able to achieve a win by two lengths.

Stay Well also has experience of running at the Knavesmire, with the horse running a disappointing race when finishing last of five horses after previously performing well in the Dubai Duty Free Handicap at Newbury. The fifth-placed finish suggests that the runner can be competitive and there was also a midfield performance in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes.
