2023 Nunthorpe Handicap Betting Odds at York racecourse

Saturday, 29 July 2023

There is a big field anticipated when it comes to the Sky Bet "Jump Jockeys' Nunthorpe" Handicap, with Count D’orsay an experienced seven-year-old who has been landing victories recently this season. He’s not the only horse to come into the encounter off the back of a win, with Sound Reason and Speedacus also aiming for a consecutive triumph.

The bookies don’t think there’s a standout prospect in the field leading up to the race, with Sampers Seven bidding to be in the winners’ enclosure for the first time this season. Treacherous and Eeh Bah Gum are other contenders, with Resilience starting to find his feet in recent clashes and it’s going to be an intriguing encounter.

2023 Nunthorpe Handicap Tips

Count D’orsay has been in tremendous form recently and it’s little surprise to find the horse among the favourites to win this Nunthorpe Handicap. The seven-year-old recently scored at Chester when winning the Excell Supply Handicap, with the horse winning over five and a half furlongs and that came after landing a handicap win at Hamilton over five furlongs.

Sampers Seven is a six-year-old who has also been installed as one of the market leaders, with the horse having finished third at Salisbury last time out over five furlongs. Previously to this, the Michael Appleby-trained charge finished tenth at Epsom in the Dash Handicap in early June, with other alternatives potentially more attractive.

Sound Reason is bidding for a consecutive victory after landing a recent win at Beverley, with the five-year-old getting up by a head to win a five-furlong handicap. This came after finishing runner-up in a handicap race at Ayr, with Speedacus also trading at a similar price and the four-year-old was able to score at Doncaster recently.

The David O’Meara-trained runner was able to win in Yorkshire over five furlongs, with that being a marked improvement on a previous outing at Chester where the horse finished second last in the Edinburgh Gin Spritz Handicap over five furlongs. Treacherous is a nine-year-old that is also likely to take his place after a spate of runs.
