2025 Rockingham Stakes Betting Odds at York racecourse

Saturday, 11 October 2025

The Saturday action at York kicks off at 1.30pm with the Coral Rockingham Stakes. This is a six-furlong dash where a fast start is imperative. Division has been successful in the past two outings and the William Haggas-trained charge could be the one to beat. The horse racing betting sites make the horse the strong favourite but there are other prime contenders.

Comical Point was a winner at the beginning of the season and will be out to do some damage at York, with Flowerhead having run several times this term. There’s another horse operating at a similar price, with Flying Comet having claimed two wins this term. Dandana has landed a couple of wins and there are lots of lively chances.

Division is a horse that deserves maximum respect. Last time out, the horse ran really well to claim a victory at Yarmouth. It was hardly a surprise considering he was sent off as the strong favourite, with that coming after an early September success at Haydock. However, this is a tougher assignment and some punters think the horse is trading at short odds.

Comical Point will deliver a nice return on your investment if the horse hits the frame and the two-year-old finished fourth in a competitive race at York back in August. The runner bounced back after finishing dead last in the July Stakes and maybe the charge will now make further progress in this autumn encounter.

Flowerhead is trained by Charlie Clover and there’s lots to like about a horse who has run several times already in a fledgling career. The latest effort at Salisbury saw the runner land eighth spot in a fillies race, although the horse previously wound up in third at Newbury and looks likely to go well as the ground continues to firm up.

Flying Comet has a better hit rate and has delivered a couple of victories this term. Simon & Ed Crisford have seen their horse secure the spoils at Chepstow and Windsor already this term. Last time out, the 20/1 chance was able to run better than the odds suggested when landing third place in the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.

Diego Ventura heads the betting market for the Coral Rockingham Stakes, with the horse likely to go off favourite for this six furlong encounter. Hamad Al Jehani saddles a runner who has the highest rating in the field, with the two-year-old finishing second at Newmarket last time out after recording successes at Naas and Ascot.

Midnight Thunder has been going from strength to strength in each of his three races thus far, with Saeed bin Suroor having landed a victory at Yarmouth when beating twelve rivals after previously succeeding at Windsor. There’s plenty to recommend a horse who has performed well over six furlongs.

Defence Minister has landed two victories in his short career thus far, with the two-year-old having scored at Newmarket and Haydock before an underwhelming performance at Newmarket when finishing dead last in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes. However, this horse looks a backable price each-way and could be worth considering.

First Instinct has solid credentials and could perform well for William Haggas, with the two-year-old having won at Nottingham and Haydock, with the latest success coming in early September. That was by a short head in a novice stakes, with Fast Track Harry and La Bellota other horses that could be worth considering.

2023 Rockingham Stakes Tips

Elmonjed runs for trainer William Haggas and the two-year-old has secured back to back victories coming into the Rockingham Stakes. The campaign began in August when the horse was able to oblige in a Maiden Stakes at Lingfield, with the layers then paying out at odds-on when the 4/6 favourite was able to score in a six furlong Novice Stakes.

Purosangue has registered runner-up placements in three successive races, with the runner finishing second to Big Evs in the Molecomb Stakes and that was followed by another second spot in the Julia Graves Roses Stakes at York to demonstrate solid credentials, while the horse was most recently edged out by Beautiful Diamond at Ayr Racecourse.

Starlore runs in the Juddmonte colours for trainer Sir Michael Stoute, with the horse winning a Novice Stakes race at Sandown Park before finishing fourth in the Solario Stakes which was a high quality outing. Sketch was able to finish just behind Purosangue at York in August, with the horse performing well at 66/1 in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes.

This looks like a decent each-way betting race and customers are advised to look across the top racing betting sites for price boosts. Each-way punters are clearly going to want the biggest number of places for their bets, with Esquire having won an only outing in a fledgling career, while Matters Most has two wins on the board in six races.
