2024 York Stakes Betting Odds at York racecourse

Saturday, 27 July 2024

We’ve got nine horses currently entered in the Sky Bet York Stakes, with over half the field trading at single figure odds. That includes My Prospero who could be capable of a big run over a distance of one mile, two and a half furlongs. William Haggas will feel confident of landing a Saturday winner at the Knavesmire, although there are other quality horses lined up.

Nations Pride has produced some bright performances this season and runs for Charlie Appleby, with Alflaila coming back after a long lay-off and the horse had previously racked up three consecutive wins. Royal Champion was also successful last time out, with Mashhoor having claimed a hat-trick of victories.

2023 Sky Bet York Stakes Tips

My Prospero heads the betting market for the Sky Bet York Stakes, with the horse recently running in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes over one mile and two furlongs. Finishing fourth out of six runners was hardly a disgrace when you consider the calibre of horse that competed in this Group 1 contest, including Luxembourg, Adayar and Bay Bridge.

The runner was previously fourth in the Lockinge Stakes when trailing behind favourite and winner Modern Games, although it was a close finish and perhaps Tom Marquand will be capable of steering the charge to a victory here, with Nations Pride currently trading as second favourite after some smart performances this season.

Charlie Appleby’s horse was third to Lord North at Meydan last time out in the Dubai Turf over one mile and one furlong, with the horse still collecting a huge sum of prize money. Previously to this, there was a victory in the Millennium Stakes over one mile, two furlongs, with the runner looking like a good each-way shout here.

Alflaila has been absent from the track for nearly a year although we can’t discount the Owen Burrows-trained runner considering the horse’s achievements last time out. The horse was sent off as the 5/2 favourite in the Masar Darley Stakes on 8 October, with a previous victory coming in the Strensall Stakes at York Racecourse.
